Paavo Tynell flush mount model 9068/40 in brass, frosted glass, and painted metal. Manufactured by Idman, Finland, 1950s. Available in different sizes and colours.

An elegant classical chandelier model 1487 by Paavo Tynell from the 1940s and made by Taito. Different to what we usually see from Tynell, this is a rather classic with a modernistic touch lamp going to prove the versatility of his designs.

An elegant piece of lighting that would fit modern and classic interiors alike. The lamp is in its original condition with original shades even.

Paavo Tynell (1890–1973) was a Finnish designer who is well renowned around the world for his incredible lighting fixtures and lamps. Tynell is known as the man who “illuminated Finland” and his works can be found in numerous public offices and buildings such as the Finnish Parliament House and the office of Secretary-General of the United Nations in New York.

Few designers have demonstrated the extraordinary range and versatility of Tapio Wirkkala (1915–1985). Inspired by nature and guided by an exceptional understanding of geometry, proportion and craftsmanship, his work helped shape Finnish design in everyday life.

Wirkkala designed an astonishing variety of objects, ranging from banknotes, jewellery, cutlery, tools, furniture and graphic identities to highly expressive works of art. Equally accomplished in glass, ceramics, wood, metal, plastic, textiles and stone, he was both a versatile designer and a gifted sculptor. His remarkable ability to master almost any material has deservedly earned him a reputation as the Leonardo da Vinci of Finnish design.

A modernist Finnish writing desk with three drawers and a cabinet from the 1960s. A simple elegant design reflecting the Finnish Design school of thought with its functionality, modern straight lines and lack of excessive decore. Made entirely of birch adding an organic and natural feel. The desk is light and can be moved around easily. In its original condition and has some minor wear consistent with age and use. Please see photos. The desk is structurally sound and has two working keys that lock / unlock all drawers and cabinet.
