Eino Schroderus (1879–1942) was a Finnish architect and designer, known for his contributions to early 20th-century Finnish design and metalwork. A key figure in the Finnish Arts and Crafts movement, he co-founded Taidetakomo Koru Oy, a workshop that played a pivotal role in developing Finnish decorative arts. Schroderus also mentored Paavo Tynell, helping shape the future of Scandinavian lighting design. His work reflects a blend of functionalism and refined craftsmanship, leaving a lasting legacy in Finnish design history.

A rare Lisa Johansson-Papé war and shortage time floor lamp with adjustable height and shade. Manufactured in Finland by Orno in the 1940s.

The lamp is one of the first floor lamps by Lisa Johansson-Papé and was exhibited extensively during the 1940s and through what were called the rebuilding years after the war. See photo of one such exhibition. The lamp features a birch leg stained in dark brown and an adjustable metal upper arm with a later slatted wooden / rattan shade. A rare earthy lamp that can add warmth to any interior and would fit exceptionally well in organic, rustic or cottage interiors.

Lisa Johansson-Papé (1907-1989) was a Finnish designer best known for her works in lightings. She paid more attention to the function of the lamp firstly, then the design feature secondly. Lisa designed furniture for Stockmann for a number of years, after which she turned her attention to lamps, also at the Stockmann owned company Orno Oy. She won a number of medals for her lighting designs in the Milan Triennials in the 1950s.

Exceptionally rare Paavo Tynell table lamp in brass and moss green painted shade. Taito 1930s.

The same example was in the Sunila mill board room and Kantola, The residence for the Sunila Mill's Director that was designed by Alvar Aalto. The lamp is still on exhibit there. It was also featured in the Ornamo annual book of 1938 as part of a room designed and decorated by Runar Engblom.

An important chandelier by world renowned Finnish lighting designer Paavo Tynell. This exceptional lamp is built to impress and is made of full brass with eight perforated shades placed on a large ring held by four arms from the middle while still giving a floating illusion and lightness to the otherwise very heavy lamp. The shade bases pe*****te the floating circle to each hold a spring like decoration that is synonym with Paavo Tynell designs along with the perforation on the shades.

The lamp has full provenance and was originally acquired from the UPM legendary club and guesthouse that has accommodated world leaders and royalty alike among whom was Princess Anne and Russian First Secretary Nikita Khrushchev.
