Yatofu Creatives is a Helsinki based creative studio, formed on the belief that great design not only meets visual and functional requirements, but also creates meaningful experiences and a lasting resonance.

recently featured our AITASHOP project under the title “Contemporary Archaeology.” We especially liked how the article describes the space as “a cultural filter: a drive for new possibilities of use and relationship.”

Throughout the process, we explored the connection between the weight of the site’s industrial past and the lightness of contemporary cycling culture. We kept the patina of time as both a backdrop and a contrast, introducing lightweight, flexible structures and materials to create a contemporary hub for the cycling community.

We dug through our archive and found these clips - from the making of the space to the ways people have been using it and making it their own. 🚴

WIP 🏠 Summer is slowly slipping away, and here’s a sneak peek at one of our summer projects: the renovation of a home for a young family in Helsinki, Finland.

Designed in the 1970s by Finnish architects Kaija and Heikki Siren, whose work includes Otaniemi Chapel and Ympyrätalo, the house has a history of its own.

Our work begins by understanding what is already there, repairing what time has worn, preserving the house’s original character, and carefully adapting it to how a young family lives today.

Over three years ago, a young and ambitious furniture design and research team 间则jianze jianze.research approached us with the idea of opening their first physical space. 🪑

Together, we came up with the Garden Terrace idea — inviting nature, people, and the neighborhood in. We turned a former cold concrete box into a fresh, simple, yet bold living room for the neighborhood.

Today, the Garden Terrace is coming to a close as Jianze prepares for its next move. We’re truly proud to have been part of this exciting journey, and hope the next chapter will be just as bright!☘️

🇩🇰 Working on the curation and design of an exhibition for two iconic Danish design houses, coming to Shanghai this autumn
📱Shaping a new gathering point in Changsha for our longtime friend PopSockets
✨Developing a new retail concept for a fashion boutique
🪑 And finally, watching our own furniture collection slowly come to life

From homes and teahouses to retail spaces, exhibitions and furniture—many different stories, scales and collaborations are unfolding across Helsinki, Shanghai and beyond.

There’s still plenty happening behind the scenes, but we wanted to share a little of the journey. More soon!

Food reflects culture, memories, and the people who gather around it.

For nearly 20 years, a beloved Singaporean wok restaurant occupied this corner, becoming part of many people’s memories. As moved in, we wanted to honour that history while creating a new chapter for the space.

Inspired by the vivid atmosphere of Asian night food alleyways, we brought familiar elements into the restaurant — neon signs, hanging street lamps, the bustle of the kitchen, and the iconic red stools.🀄️

We hope Noodle Story will continue creating memorable moments for many years to come.🥢

🍒Since the first we designed, warmth and togetherness have always been key concepts in our design process.
Inspired by the atmosphere of cozy yet vivid Asian alleyways, we created the newest Noodle Story restaurant in Kamppi, Helsinki — a space centered around an over-2-meter-long communal table, with bespoke seating designed by us placed throughout the space, inviting people to gather, share, and slow down together.🫖

Always great to see our projects doing well and holding up beautifully years after completion. Teahouse is still thriving after five years, and it’s rewarding to see how the materials have developed a natural patina over time, with plants slowly climbing along the brick walls. 🌱

Today, we revisited the project and had the pleasure of showcasing it to the from Belgium during their architecture and design trip, while sharing some cold brew tea together🍵. Warm greetings from Helsinki!

A 6-page conversation with Interni Magazine - a pleasure to share how we work, and our thoughts on retail experiences today and what might be next.

Working across cultures and contexts allows us to constantly step back - to reconstruct perspectives and question the familiar, while staying closely engaged in local dialogue, reconnecting each project to its people, place, and time. 🌼🩵

In Garden Gallery Residence, we bravely yet thoughtfully transformed the apartment into a living space fulfilled with art that blends together with daily life.

It's a pleasure to work with many talented artists and artisans closely during the process. In order to memorize it, we made this short film, hope you feel the time and passion all of us put into this project.
