It was a piece that wasn’t quite “there”. I let it wait for a couple of months and then worked on it in a frenzy. Everything came together in the way I wanted it to.

Right now, I’m seeing waterfalls in a fjord. What about you?

Talking about soulscapes. Here’s a couple of pics showing what happened today when I let all these forms and colours emerge without editing. I sure looks like a fun part of my inner world to visit. Right now I can see a baby deer, a couple of cats and a someone with a ponytail. What about you?

I realised that what I’m painting is the different facettes of my internal reality and that these are more than abstract landscapes or botanicals, they’re soulscapes.
Sometimes it feels so rewarding to put a name on a thing.

I’m feeling inspired lately by Finnish nature and its amazing contradictions throughout the seasons. After months of darkness and fleeting, short days, we’re suddenly bathing in this magnificent, transparent light. These photos were taken without any artificial lighting at 7 p.m. in my studio. What a blessing when you think of how the night falls at 3:30 p.m. during the wintertime.

This is my latest piece in progress. This is the second layer in oils. More are to come.
