So, a while ago I was innocently pondering through the store in Helsinki, promising myself I would only buy what I came for (sawblades and small parts) and not wander off to spend half my live savings away at all the wonderful things they have there…I kind of stumbled and fell right onto this small piece of purple heart 💜.

OH WELL, I thought to myself and thought it must have been destiny. I bought it and had no real plan what to do with it (as it often happens). But it was so vibrant and beautiful, I had to have it. This might not seem like such a big deal, also given this 15x15x5cm block was 23€ total, but to me it always is.

I try to avoid buying wood as much as I can, as recycling and re-using is what I enjoy the most. If I have to buy wood, there has to be a good reason. Either a certain type of project, commission or special customer wish. Often I only buy leftovers and cut-off pieces that would otherwise land in the trash. I’m very conscious about my choices and try to work as sustainably as I can out of principle.

Sustainability lecture over.

Oh my gosh! Aren’t these two mixed wood (this time for real) bowl & dishes gorgeous 🤩?

Purple Heart 💜 was definitely a challenge to work with. Hard AF, as the young ones would say, and brittle as well. The result is well woth the troubles though.

Let me know if you like these mixed wood pieces and if you have ideas of what I could try next!

Every project needs a reason to begin with, right?

Well, not always 😅 but this time yes. My dear wife is re-decorating and wanted something nice to match the color theme of the room. The theme is green 💚

Can a color be a theme? When I started asking those kind of questions, the look on her face told me to stop asking dumb questions and go to the shed to make something.

So I did. Not one, but two slightly different mixed wood bowls (can you call them mixed wood of all of it is maple?😅) were the result. Simple, clean and nice enough to put on a shelf. Nonone will ever know the hardcore shred-sessions these innocent little bowls have been through 😎🤘🏻🛹

I guess they will be part of the decoration until a new “theme” becomes more interesting 😅.

If you ask nicely, one of the two could be yours (depending on which one my wife likes to keep).

TLDR: wife want deco bowl. I make 2 bowl. You can buy 1 bowl. Send message. Look website. Thanks 😊

2 4 1

FOR SALE:

Recycled skateboard dish & bowl ♻️🛹 🥣

I had a bowl blank, which ended up being too tall. I would have wasted a lot of material and created a bowl with bad proportions. So I decided to part off 5 cm from the top of the blank and turn a dish, which perfectly matches the bowl.

As I am always trying to use up every last bit of old skateboards, this was a solution that made me very happy. If you like this set or either one of the pieces, check them out on my website (link in bio).

In case you are interested in both pieces as a set - reach out to me for a small discount 😎

Good things for good people ❤️

That’s one motto, way of thinking, or attitude I live by. Everything I create from broken skateboards is part of my passion, hobby and lifestyle. This is not my profession, which is also why I don’t do it for the money. Whatever I earn, goes back into buying more tools and partly also to give back to the skate community. It’s how I contribute.

This is why, when there is a project of the heart, I sometimes don’t want much money or any at all.

My dear cousin Sascha (check out ) is an avid hobby baker (better than most pros I would argue), and added to that she has celiac disease - gluten intolerance. This makes it extremely hard to find and bake/cook good food. Despite all that she went on the offense and started her own baking and cooking site, helps others with celiac disease and creates delicious dishes all around.

I am more than proud of her for being the awesome and warmhearted person she is, powering through and turning a difficult situation into something positive and great ❣️

Not a question that I loved making these tiny spice/salt bowls with copper measuring spoons for her.

Sascha, du bist die Beste ❣️

So I had two 5“ bowl blanks ready for some woodturning and thought, should I just make another regular skateboard bowl?

The answer was no. So I decided to cut them both in half and glue them up into two half‘n‘half blanks.

Long story short, spent a couple hours on Christmas eve, turning this one as a surprise Christmas present for my mom ❣️

Love how it turned out and stoked that I get to make another one!

This was my last piece of 2023. now some relaxing holidays with the family. See you in 2024 with new energy, new ideas and more wild projects 😎🤘🏻💥

Much love from Sipoo and thank you all for the support this year ❤️
