Dear Ex-Scholars,

With a heavy heart, i would like to announce the death of one of our favorite teacher today. Mrs Anila Nair was such a beautiful soul and an inspirational human being. GOD can not call this heavenly lady to Him. I will forever remember the useful teachings and guidance provided by her. Maam, you will be dearly missed.

Many of us may remember Mr Asharfi Lal, our ex TD teacher from Muaniweni College.
Sadly announcing that he is not with us anymore. His funeral will be on 22/03/20 from Nakasi Cemetery. Our deepest condolences to his family.

Muaniweni College Dux Milika Dedicates Success To Late Mother
An emotional, but happy Milika Nawaqadau Vakarogocibau dedicates her recent academic achievement to her late mother, who died in 2013 due to a short illness.

Last Wednesday, Milika, of Delaidamanu Village in Naitasiri, with maternal links to Fulaga, Lau, was named dux of Muaniweni College, Naitasiri.

“Since my mother passed away, I was sad but it also made me stronger in a way that I strived harder in my studies,” Milika said.

Being the only daughter in the family among two brothers, Milika sacrificed her leisure time to concentrate on her studies.

The soft spoken aspiring lawyer attributed her success to hard work, determination and support from her father who gave his all to manage the family in the absence of his wife.

She also said that if it weren’t for her father’s support, she would not have made it this far.

“My father’s expectations and the fact that he reminds me of my mother’s wish for me to be successful in my education kept me going,” she said.

Milika also won awards for scoring the highest mark in the Year 12 Certificate Examination, Year 13 first prize and Year 13 top subject prizes in English, history, geography and vosa vakaviti. She plans to join the University of the South Pacific next year.

Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Vijay Nath, who is a former school teacher, was chief guest at the event.

Mr Nath was impressed with Milika’s achievement and encouraged her to work harder as she pursues further studies at the university.

“There will be challenges such as peer pressure but you have to remain focus until you achieve your goal to become a lawyer,” he said.
