The meticulous restoration and installation of an exceptionally rare 1936 ‘Colin Maillard’ (‘Blind Man’s Buff’) wallpaper by Mauny was part of a collaborative restoration project by artisans brought together for the project by Arnaud Fouassier.
The paintwork colour scheme enhances the soft greens, pinks and greys of the wallpaper, and an intricate trompe l’oeil artwork was hand painted on the ceiling. The beautiful glass doors were restored, and curtains added in a rich, soft pink velvet.
For Monsieur André, the owner of the large 1900s manor house in Burgundy, France, it was important to preserve the architectural heritage and artistic integrity of the property and to reintroduce period craftsmanship throughout the interiors.
“From my very first contact with Arnaud until the completion of the project with his fantastic ensemble of artisans it has been a joy and privilege. I have been so impressed by the quality of workmanship, cleanliness of the site, the correctness of all communication and time management. For future projects, I want to work only with Fouassier.”
Specialist artisans: Audric Gaggero, Michaël Domain, Julien Nobis, Atelier Morgane (), Houlès (), and Anne Brugirard.
