✨ SOCIAL SUNDAY — A LITTLE CWTCH & A LOT OF LANGUAGES ✨
One of the things we love most about Le Cèdre Salon de Thé is hearing all the different languages and accents that find their way through the door. ❤️
French, English, Welsh and plenty of others besides — sometimes all being spoken around the same table! ☕😂
There’s something really lovely about people from different countries and cultures sitting together, chatting, laughing and teaching each other the odd word along the way.
And of course, our little cwtch usually starts a conversation of its own…
“What does cwtch mean?”
“How do you pronounce it?” 👀😂
Cwtch is one of those lovely Welsh words that has a meaning, but no single English word quite captures it.
It can be a cuddle, a cosy little place, or that feeling of warmth, comfort and belonging. ❤️
And translating it into French?
We’re still not even attempting that one! 😂
Here’s a little secret, though…
Kirsti speaks a little bit of Welsh too. Well, she rather has to — being married to a very proud Welshman and having lived in Wales for a few years! 🏴😂
Add that to her French and English, and you never quite know which language you might hear when you pop in.
For us, that mix of languages, accents and cultures is part of what makes our little salon de thé so special.
You don’t have to speak the same language perfectly to share a coffee, a slice of cake and a good laugh. ☕🍰❤️
And really… what could be more cwtch than that?
