Before you give up on your old parquet, take a look at this walnut floor 👍🏼

20 m² of heavy scratches, uneven boards and old linseed oil hiding the grain.

After a day of careful sanding, you can see why this floor deserved saving. Next comes the protective finish to bring out the walnut’s colour and prepare it for everyday life again.

Another parquet saved. Time to put some finish down 👍🏼

Today’s job: 20 m² of walnut parquet. Heavily scratched, uneven and covered in an old linseed oil finish. Plenty of work to uncover that grain again.

Started at 8:30 am. Sanding finished at 3:45 pm.

For those interested in the sanding process:

• Drum sander: 36 then 60 grit, two passes plus returns.
• Spider sander: 80 then 120 grit, two passes.
• Edges: RAS sander at 40 then 60 grit, followed by the Festool Rotex at 80 then 120 grit.
• Corners: hand scraped, then sanded with the Festool delta sander.

The old finish is off. Now for the next stage and a chance to see that walnut colour come through.

A five day project to restore
50m2 of old never sanded before Parquet!
It was rough, uneven, cupped and damaged.

Now it’s repaired, flat & treated for woodworm.
Finished with Bona Evo satin.
