Éric Astoul — Large Stoneware Vessel, La Borne, France 🇫🇷 2003

Large ovoid stoneware vessel, created in a high-temperature wood-fired kiln by French ceramic artist Éric Astoul (b. 1945).

A unique sculptural piece featuring a richly textured surface of fine horizontal incisions and scarification, inspired by an Africanist visual vocabulary. The intense firing has produced a deep, earthy palette ranging from terracotta to charcoal brown, emphasizing the raw and powerful character of the clay.

Falling for this small 1940s French solid oak sideboard (credenza). With its beautifully carved flat « pointes de diamant » (diamond-point) door panels and those sturdy, curved modernist legs, it strikes the perfect balance between brutalist strength and warm, timeless design.

Its compact proportions make it an easy fit to warm up an entryway, hallway, or living room without overcrowding the space
