🍂 The Art of Gilding — Gold, Silver & Copper Leaf
Monday 1st June | 1.30 to 5.30 pm | €60
A hands-on introduction to working with metal leaf. You will learn how to apply gold, silver, and copper leaf using traditional techniques, and how different finishes can create soft, aged, or time-worn effects. No experience needed. You will leave with three gilded pieces and the confidence to use the technique at home.

✦ Impressions in Paint — Surface & Pattern with IOD Paint Inlays
Thursday 4th June | 1.30 to 5.30 pm | €70
Paint Inlays are unlike transfers or decoupage — the design is made from real paint and becomes part of the surface. This workshop walks you through the full process in a calm, unhurried way, from placement and lifting to reuse. Suitable for all levels. You will leave with two decorative pieces and the skills to take the technique straight to furniture at home.
Both workshops include all materials, coffee, and homemade cake. Maximum 6 participants.

Patina… it’s not for everyone, but I love it.

This piece isn’t finished yet, but the sunshine was too good not to take advantage of, so I spent a bit of time wet distressing to soften everything back.

It’s one of those processes where you have to know when to stop… and that’s always the hardest part.

Not the finished piece yet, but the part where you get completely focused and just get on with it.

Spend a day in the atelier creating a piece you’ll be proud to take home.

This one-day workshop is about learning how to work with découpage on furniture in a confident, considered way.

We focus on placement, flow and blending so the paper, paint and surface come together naturally, creating a finish that feels intentional, balanced and refined.

It’s a hands-on day in the atelier, working on a real piece of furniture, with step-by-step guidance and plenty of individual support throughout.

You’ll have a selection of papers to choose from, and time to develop your piece properly rather than rushing the process.

By the end of the day, you’ll leave with:

• A completed piece
• A clear approach you can use again at home
• The confidence to make decisions as you work

Thursday 9 April | €150
The day:
• 9:30 – 17:30
• Small group (maximum 4 people)
• All materials provided
• Tea, coffee and homemade cake

• Please bring a piece of furniture that you can comfortably carry and work on within the day

I’ve added a Studio Clearance section to the website to move through some stock and make room for new pieces and ranges coming in.

At the moment it’s mainly decoupage papers, with plenty of choice, and I’ll be adding other items over the next few weeks.

If you haven’t tried working with papers yet, this is a good place to start, or to pick up something new for your next project.

Following on from my last post, I thought I’d share a little more about what Furniture Painting Made Easy actually involves.

It’s a full-day, hands-on workshop designed to give you a clear and confident foundation in furniture painting.

We focus on the things that really matter
how to prepare a piece properly, how to apply paint for a smooth finish, and how to protect your work so it lasts.

Throughout the day, everything is explained step by step, with demonstrations and time to work on your own piece at a relaxed pace. There’s plenty of guidance, no pressure, and no need for any previous experience.

You’ll leave with a finished piece, and more importantly, the confidence to continue at home.

Sometimes it just clicks.

You can feel it… when the piece starts to come together and the brush begins to do what you want it to do.

No rushing, no overthinking. Just working it through, layer by layer.

This is the part people often miss, but it’s where everything changes.

Do you recognise that moment of not quite knowing when to stop… or when to keep going?

I’ll be sharing new workshop dates very soon for those who’d like to experience this for themselves.

Today I’m finally back at the work table after a few storm-related interruptions and a fair bit of catching up on accounts.

Those winds were quite something around here. I hope everyone else came through it without too much damage.

Things are slowly getting back to normal and I’m looking forward to bringing a lot of new furniture projects to life in the atelier again. Workshops will also be restarting soon after a short gap… but more about those later.

For now I’m looking at this little table which has been waiting patiently in the corner for a while.

I think it might finally be time to give it a new life.

Now I’m undecided…

1️⃣ Revive the wood
2️⃣ Soft chalky paint
3️⃣ Aged patina
4️⃣ Something a little bolder… perhaps with a touch of gold
