Little things from July 🤍
Some numbers I’m extremely proud of, some that made me smile, and some that simply remind me what my days have looked like lately 😊
And most importantly: 4 weekends where I didn’t work 😆✨ One of the challenges of having your own brand is thinking about it 24/7. It’s been very difficult to disconnect! So I’m very proud of this one too.
Trying to build something sustainable doesn’t just mean making the business work. It also means making a life around it that I actually want to live 🤍

I’ve always had a soft spot for coffee shops. Whenever I visit a new city, they’re usually the first places I look for. Not just for the coffee, but for the atmosphere, the conversations, the people watching, and those slow little moments that often end up inspiring my work.
So over the years, it’s felt incredibly special to see my illustrations and handmade magnets find their way into cafés across Europe.

There was a point where I seriously wondered whether I should keep making these. They’re by far the most time-consuming thing I create, and as wholesale orders grew, so did the hours I spent shrinking, glazing, and packaging them.

But every time, I came back to the same conclusion: I couldn’t find anything else quite like them 🤍

People who care can tell that they are handmade. They’ve slowly become a little icon of my brand, and I can’t really imagine Rio Soléy without them anymore. So I’ve decided to just go for it and keep creating new ones ☀️

In case you were wondering how many designs I have right now…there are 13 designs available in my online shop and for wholesale 🤍 Let’s see how much I can grow the collection this year! ✨

There are moments where I have to pause and remind myself that this is real. Then I come across photos like these, and it suddenly hits me.
Not long ago, I was wondering whether this little business would ever be enough. Now my mini magnets, greeting cards, and art prints have found homes in places I genuinely never imagined! 🤍✨
Everything I make starts on my iPad in my tiny flat in Paris, yet somehow it ends up in places I once only visited as a customer, in museum shops, or even in the French Alps. I don’t think I’ll ever stop finding that a little surreal!
Thank you to every shop that has chosen to make a little space for my work. It means more than you know 🤍

A bit of satisfying video for your feed ✨ Watching these wine bottles, baguettes, and cheese shrink down to tiny pieces never fails to be satisfying!

Every single magnet is made by hand, one by one, right here in my Paris studio before it makes it to your home 🤍 Even for wholesale orders! It’s slow, it’s trial-and-error, and it’s pure joy to make 🎨

Embracing the messy middle ☁️🌿 Before the final creations of my illustration make it to the shelves of beautiful boutiques or the big trade shows, they have to go through the trial-and-error phase. Growth is almost never a straight line. Every milestone we reach is built on things that didn’t work out the first time (but we rarely see that from outside or on social media). Thank you for walking this path with me through all the ups and downs 🤍✨

One of my favourite parts of the process is this moment - when flat pieces of printed shrink plastic slowly curl, twist, and turn tiny in the heat 🤍 I’ve watched it hundreds of times and it still feels a little magical every time ✨ It is also the longest process (in real time, it’s much slower than in the video 😆), but it’s starting to be second nature by now after shrinking hundreds.

This tiny magnet trio is called Market Day: a basket with white flowers, strawberries, and yellow spring shoes. All drawn by me by hand on my iPad, then printed and shrunk, and finished by hand to become these tiny decorative magnets.

A little (or very) late, but I didn’t want to skip sharing this ✨

Maison & Objet in January was full of shapes, colours, and ideas I’m probably going to carry with me for a while 💌 It’s always interesting to see what’s happening beyond my own little world.

Also had a small surreal moment seeing my artwork there through a licensing partner. Still something I don’t think I’ll ever get used to 🥰

So many things that made me pause and think!

Lately, my days have mostly looked like this: making tiny magnets, packaging cards, and trying to ship everything on time.

Then I see photos from shops, or visit one in person, and I remember: they end up in beautiful independent boutiques, waiting quietly on a shelf until someone decides to take them home 🤍

It’s so easy to be taken by the tasks in front of you and forget what it is leading to.

Working with shops and lovely shop owners like them has become one of the parts of my work that feels the most aligned. Seeing my illustrations live in carefully curated spaces, alongside other thoughtful objects, means a lot to me.

This is The Matcha Club mini magnet trio: iced matcha latte, hot matcha latte, and traditional whisked matcha, drawn in Paris, shrunk by hand, and finished one by one in my tiny flat.
