After a long week painting (pictures to come) Sunday is supposed to be a day of rest. I had to squeeze a job in before returning to the painting next week. A small retaining wall to be back filled to allow better access to a stable.

This is a job I find very therapeutic, sitting on a mower keeping the grass down for a client.

A recent job was to build a fence along a small retaining wall that had a big drop on the other side so that the family can use this section of garden. I have more fencing to install here but this was the start.

I finally finished the washstand in my client's shower and am quite pleased with the results. This was made from scratch with the top made from a piece of reclaimed kitchen worktop, using cast iron stair rods for legs. I have added a 'skirt' to hide the plumbing underneath. This was made using a decorative wooden trim reclaimed from an old cupboard in our loft with the decorative carved section painted in a lovely metallic copper.

Another job was to convert a toilet into a shower room so prior to the work commencing upstairs all of the plumbing had to be put in place for hot and cold supply and the waste converted for the shower. After the plumbing was put in place the new shower tray was laid and the shower area tiled in these lovely mosaic tiles. The wash stand was made from an oak offcut from a kitchen worktop which had its edge routed to give a nice smooth finish. It was then supported using some cast iron stair rods and old wine crates used as storage underneath. I still have the pipework to finish on the hand basin but all of the decoration has now been finished, including the tiled floor.

Another skill from my previous life, having spent most of my working like in design and print, is design. Here is the new logo for Le Barrious at the lake. Recently used for the new menus, also my work, and soon to be used for new signage that I will be installing.

Another job I enjoy being a keen cyclist is cycle renovation and maintenance. This was a client's carbon Trek that had suffered a little in sea air. The original wheels had rusted as had all of the cables. Everything was stripped down and thoroughly cleaned and polished. New wheels were fitted after replacing the freewheel and cassette. New cables were installed and the gearing reset then new bar tape and rubber gear lever hoods as the old ones had perished. It now looks and performs much better than previously, even losing a bit more weight with the lovely new lightweight wheels.

Another job for a regular client was to create an ensuite to the guest bedroom. There had been an old shower installed that needed replacing. A new shower tray was installed then all retiled in white metro tiles. I then had to install a new hand basin and a toilet that hadn't been there previously so all of the plumbing and waste was required. Following this the floor was tiled and the bedroom was then freshly decorated.

I haven't posted in a while but just thought I'd share my latest job. I had to seal and paint a newly plastered attic space then clean and oil the beams. I then had to sand and oil the floor and stairwell. The job is progressing nicely and shows what a lovely space this will be.
