Join us for a special jewellery pop-up workshop in the heart of Paris, discovering the art of weaving with silk threads and horsehair.

Choose the colors that speak to you. Select the horsehair that feels like your own. Then, guided by the designer of CUNZU, learn basic weaving techniques and create a one-of-a-kind piece that reflects your story.

We’ve prepared over 60 colors of Moroccan silk threads, a variety of cotton cords, and natural horsehair for you to mix, match, and create a piece that’s uniquely yours.

We believe the most treasured jewelry holds a story of connection. Bring a friend, a partner, or someone dear to you, and spend a warm, unhurried weekend creating together. ✨

The women of the Red-Thread Miao are known for their distinctive dress: hair gathered into large buns, colorful combs tucked into place, bright tassels hanging from their ears, and intricate silver ornaments passed down through generations.

As we watched, Xin Lao Mong carefully helped her granddaughter put on a pair of tassel earrings. Dressing in traditional clothing is not a quick process. Every piece has its place, from the combs and earrings to the embroidered garments and silver adornments. It takes time and patience to wear the full attire properly.

But for important festivals, the children love it.

In these mountains, traditions are not kept in museums.

They are carried by the hands of grandmothers, worn by children, and passed down one generation at a time.🫶

Xin Lao Mong lives high in the mountains of southwest China.

Her village lies deep among the ridges. The road twists through forests and valleys before reaching the cluster of wooden houses where Miao families have lived for generations.

During our recent research trip to Jiayi Village, we met her there.

She is a tailor.

For many years, she has sat by the window, cutting cloth, threading needles, and stitching traditional Miao costumes by hand. The embroidery is delicate. The work is slow. Sometimes a single outfit takes months to complete.

She raised four daughters.

The costumes she made helped pay for their education, and she supported all four of them through university.

She told us that two of her daughters have already started working. They often ask her to travel with them and see the world beyond the mountains. They want to take her to cities she has never visited—to places she has only seen in photographs.

But she always says she prefers the village. This is where she feels at home.

When the conversation turns to her daughters, her expression softens.

Then she takes out several silver crowns. She keeps them carefully wrapped and stored away.

In Miao culture, silver ornaments are passed down from mothers to daughters. They carry blessings, memories, and hopes from one generation to the next.

Xin Lao Mong handles each piece gently, as though she is touching the years themselves.

The crowns are beautiful. But when she looks at them, she is not seeing at silver. She is seeing her daughters.
