GALERIE MCDE - ÉDITION PIERRE CHAREAU The editor of reference of renowned architect and designer Pierre Chareau. L'éditeur de référence Why such a choice? Pourquoi ce choix ?

Galerie MCDE has been the Editor of reference of the famous architect and designer Pierre Chareau for more than thirty years and specializes in editing about eighty of its furniture and lighting creations. Because Pierre Chareau is an inventor, an innovator, one of the first modern architects in France, with Le Corbusier, to use new materials such as glass and steel. He designed furniture out of w

ood and metal as well as scores of lamps which reflect their light through alabaster sheets whose shapes and angles define so well
the « Chareau style ». For years, the core mission of Galerie MCDE has been to keep the genius of Pierre Chareau alive, perpetuating his know-how thanks to the manufacturing skills of a handful of French craftsmen.

-----------------

Between Italian references and a seventies spirit, architects Agathe Lavaud and Martin Massé envision their Paris apartment as a serene space, balancing between home and laboratory. The project draws as much from Italy, for the nobility of its materials and the richness of its patinas, as from the 1970s, for their bold forms and warm atmospheres. Travertine, sisal, and polished concrete form a mineral base, subtly softened by wood, wool, and a few vintage pieces.

In this expressive atmosphere, the BLOC AUVENT wall light extends the project’s architectural language, subtly echoing the balance between raw materials and softened textures

Atelier Mishatemnikov composes an New York-style apartment with a quiet kind of confidence, where nothing tries too hard, and every detail feels precisely in place.

Travertine, warm wood, and softened light shape an atmosphere that is both effortless and exact. Materials unfold with restraint, allowing the space to breathe without excess.

Art moves through the interior like a pulse, subtle, yet impossible to ignore, bringing rhythm and depth to this calm, composed setting.

Within this refined balance, the BLOC AUVENT wall lamps introduces a discreet, architectural gesture, anchoring the space with clarity and intention.

Chana Orloff, a major figure of the Paris School, developed a sculptural style in which the softness of curves blends with modernity, with careful attention to the balance of volumes. In the 1920s, she was at the heart of a circle of artists and architects who contributed to the emergence of the Parisian avant-garde. Villa Seurat, in historic Montparnasse, became a true hub of creativity, and her studio-house, built by Auguste Perret in 1926, was part of this ensemble of artists’ studios and villas, among the first addresses to assert a modern aesthetic.

Within this network, where painting, sculpture, architecture, and decorative arts interacted, Orloff maintained close ties with several major figures of Parisian modernity, including the architect and designer Pierre Chareau. Close collaborators, they worked together on several occasions: Chareau notably designed the furniture for the two bedrooms of Orloff’s studio-house. She also created his bust, a testament to their intellectual and artistic closeness and to the exchanges that fueled creative work at the time.

In Sydney, the interior architecture studio Arent&Pyke reinterprets a residence where color and architecture engage in a dynamic dialogue.

The project rethinks spatial circulation, opening up volumes and allowing light to flow freely. Arches, wood details, and layered textures shape an environment that is both structured and vibrant.

Color plays a defining role: saffron tones, deep greens, and powdery hues create atmospheres that evolve with controlled precision.

Within this richly composed setting, the BLOC AUVENT and MOUCHE wall lights bring a soft, sculptural presence.

Built between 1929 and 1932 by Robert Mallet-Stevens for the industrialist Paul Cavrois, the Villa Cavrois, located between Lille and Roubaix, embodies a modern vision of domestic living. Designed as a total work of art, it presents a rigorous composition in which architecture, furniture, and decorative elements come together in a cohesive whole, the result of collaboration between multiple contributors.

A similar approach to design and composition can be found in the work of Galerie MCDE, through a particular attention to line, materiality, and the balance of forms.

In London, this apartment designed by architect Benjamin Liatoud unfolds a refined interior language, where bespoke millwork structures the space and guides circulation.

Clean lines and natural materials create a balanced composition in which light flows freely, highlighting textures and revealing depth.

Within this composition, Galerie MCDE editions integrate with delicacy: the BLOC AUVENT and MOUCHE wall lights offer a visual punctuation, engaging in dialogue with surfaces and perspectives.

On the occasion of Art Paris 2026, Galerie MCDE is part of the scenography imagined by Nathan Baraness for Galerie Dina Vierny.

In keeping with Dina Vierny’s legacy, the project evokes a Parisian apartment with Art Deco influences, where each artwork is thoughtfully placed within a refined and understated setting.

Within this space, editions from Galerie MCDE resonate with a selection of modern and contemporary works. Bookends and pedestals by Pierre Chareau engage in dialogue with pieces by Stéphane Bordarier, Marcel Duchamp, Wassily Kandinsky, Serge Poliakoff, Judit Reigl, along with bronzes by Aristide Maillol and Robert Couturier.

Around the Macassar ebony desk by Pierre Chareau, this dialogue continues with « Les Mains » by Aristide Maillol and « Souvenir de Santorin » by Robert Couturier, creating an immersive journey where design and sculpture unfold in a seamless and sensitive continuity, offering visitors an experience that is both intimate and contemplative.
