Renowned Paris gallery exhibiting the most important pre-20th century European art. Galerie Kugel offers a uniquely wide range of specialties.

The artworks are displayed in the historic rooms of the Hôtel Collot and in a neighbouring space with a modern presentation, which was inaugurated in 2016. The majority of pieces are sourced directly from private collections. The well-cited “Kugel provenance”, is considered a guarantee of authenticity, rarity, and exceptional quality. overs and connoisseurs to build and enhance their collections. Our team of art historians, which benefits from a library containing over 20,000 reference works, is reputed for its provenance research and frequent rediscoveries of lost treasures.

La Galerie Kugel est la seule à offrir un aussi large éventail de spécialités, exposées au sein des salles historiques de l’Hôtel et dans un second espace attenant inauguré en 2016 à la présentation plus moderne. We are excited to announce details of our new exhibition, opening next month:

AMBER
Treasures from the Baltic Sea
16th – 18th century

From October 18th to December 16th, 2023

Nearly 50 artworks made of Baltic amber will be on display, patiently collected over decades. Showcasing altarpieces, caskets, tankards, and game boards, the wide variety of objects will illustrate the long-lasting fascination for this beautiful and mysterious material.

The exhibition will be accompanied by an extensively illustrated catalogue co-written by Alexis Kugel and Rahul Kulka, and published by Editions Monelle Hayot.

Next week will mark the opening of our exhibition in tribute to the taste of the late Hubert de Givenchy. By reuniting a group of artworks that once belonged to him, the display will pay hommage to the unique atmosphere of his great salon at Hotel d'Orrouer.

Micromosaic, a technique using very small piece of glass to create figurative images, was mounted on a variety of supports: from small jewellery and inkwells to large vases. Here, two gold boxes are adorned with micromosaic plaques by Giacomo Raffaelli and Gioacchino Barberi.

A magnificient pietra dura table top made in Florence circa 1590-1600, and probably designed by Bernardo Buontalenti and Matteo Nigetti. Remarkable for its size and the quality of its composition, this table top is a rare example of the early production of the lapidary grand-ducal workshop, called "Galleria dei Lavori", set up in 1588 under Ferdinando I de Medici'.
