BEC
A bronze form poised like a suspended beak, held in delicate balance above a quiet pool of light.
For many years, Christine Rouvière has returned instinctively to the figure of the bird — not as ornament, but as a presence. In BEC, that fascination becomes more abstract: a dark patinated bronze stem supports a wide luminous surface whose rough, mineral texture evokes both erosion and plumage. The upper element, finished in polished gold bronze, appears almost carved by wind and time.
Light emerges softly from beneath the form, grazing the surface below like the last reflection of dusk.

Fragments of bronze hover above spheres of selenite, as if small pieces of stone had remained suspended in the air.
Each element begins in fire. Bronze is melted, poured, and allowed to take on a raw, mineral surface — irregular, rugged, almost geological. Beneath it, a sphere of selenite diffuses the light softly, its fibrous structure transforming the glow into a quiet, luminous presence.
The composition unfolds vertically, each drop hanging at a different height, forming a constellation of light and matter. No two arrangements are the same. The number of spheres, their suspension, and the ceiling plate itself can all be adapted, allowing the piece to grow or contract according to the space it inhabits.

A solitary figure stands suspended between matter and thought.
Cast in bronze with a deep black patina, the form bends gently upon itself — a quiet gesture of introspection, recalling the timeless posture of Rodin’s Thinker.
The body becomes structure: elongated, simplified, almost eroded, as if shaped by time rather than carved by hand. Open voids pierce the figure, allowing light and shadow to move through it, turning mass into rhythm.

Each form begins with the delicate structure of seaweed, translated through sand casting into bronze. The process preserves the irregular edges and porous textures of the original organic shapes, turning something fleeting into metal.
The piece unfolds like a quiet marine landscape — bronze forms drifting across a dark surface, circling a reflective horizon.

A quiet column rises from the base, its bronze surface deep and warm, like a trunk catching the last light of day. Around it, a small flock takes flight. Each bird, cast in bronze, is frozen in a different gesture — wings lifted, turning, hovering — circling the column as if caught in an invisible current.
Their gilded surfaces catch the light with sudden flashes, echoing the brief brilliance of birds in motion. The lamp becomes a moment suspended: a murmuration translated into metal.

A column of selenite, cut in its natural vertical grain, rises like a frozen current of light. Its translucency is neither opaque nor transparent, but layered — light entering, diffusing, softening as it travels through the mineral.
Bronze does not frame it. It interrupts it.
The contrast is deliberate: crystalline stillness against molten memory.
Selenite carries light. Bronze carries time.
