How to do a knit stitch for beginners 🧶

This is the key stitch used in knitting, and if you can master this one stitch, you can do what is called garter stitch, where you knit all stitches! In garter stitch, you can make squares, scarves or even a blanket!

A few tips for you to think about:
🧶 stabilise your needle with your pointer finger
🧶 keep your tension consistent when you wrap your yarn around
🧶 the first row after the cast on is often the hardest, so be patient with this row, and you will be in your way to knitting your first project!

How to cast on your knitting using the long tail method 🧶

This is a very beginner friendly cast on method, and probably one of the commonly used cast on methods as well! It works perfectly for scarves, beanies, shawls, jumpers… and honestly most projects!

A few tips for you to think about:
🧶 add a bit of extra yarn to your yarn tail when you measure it out
🧶 keep your yarn tail in your left hand and the working yarn connected to your ball in the right
🧶 your slipknot counts as your first cast on stitch

Learn 4 Stitch Check in this third part of the Step by Step Scarf🧣

This tutorial builds on Parts 1 and 2 of this scarf, which is the perfect first project for beginners! In each section, you will learn a new technique or form of knitting stitch, and slowly build your confidence to be able to take on bigger projects!
