Sous nos latitudes, l’Afrique évoque une multitude d’images et de couleurs. Elle est pour le moins puissante et multiple. Nous vous proposons de découvrir des facettes méconnues de l’Afrique de l’Oues
t au travers d’objets et de produits porteurs d’histoire(s). Chargés ou non de dimensions rituelles et sacrées, ils sont le fruit de techniques artisanales traditionnelles. Au fil de nos rencontres et de nos échanges sur place, nous les avons patiemment sélectionnés pour leurs qualités esthétiques et leur caractère exclusif. Les produits choisis sont entièrement faits main, issus de matières naturelles telles que le bois et le coton. Affranchis de toute tendance, ils se distinguent par un design intemporel. “hannuwa” is the word for “hands” in Hausa, a language spoken throughout West Africa. The hand is the conduit between the heart and the object – the nexus that connects people. The hand controls, shapes, grazes, caresses... it gives, beckons, joins, shares...
In our part of the world, Africa conjures up a plethora of images and colors, all as powerful and complex as the next. We invite you to venture on a journey to discover the lesser-known facets of West Africa through its objects and products, replete with stories and histories. Some may hold ritualistic or sacred significance; all have been painstakingly crafted using traditional artisanal techniques. They have been meticulously selected – after numerous encounters and discussions with local populations – on the basis of criteria that place emphasis on their aesthetic value and exclusive nature. All the products are completely handmade with natural materials, such as wood and cotton, and are characterized by a timeless design that withstands fleeting trends.
