First piece to get unpacked. Shortly before moving to France I got a message from someone who wanted to buy this little pot. I wrapped it up carefully, boxed it, and prepared it for shipping when all the communication suddenly stopped. Um...hello? Helll-oooo....🫩 You know, it's totally okay to change your mind. Sigh. Well, now I'm glad to have it and enjoy it. Some things work out the way they should.

Got a few pretty ones out of the glaze kiln the other day. I still need to work out a better combination because I seem to get some bubbled up areas in the denser spots of the oxide. It must be the white glaze in combination? The little bells I made were glazed differently. I painted the oxide directly on the bisque and then dipped in a transparent glaze. Much darker result! I may try this again. What do you think?

Experimenting again... I dipped the whole cup in white glaze. Then I painted the rim with cobalt blue oxide then quickly dipped the rim in white glaze again producing this interesting watercolor effect. I hope it translates once it's fired. 🫣🤞🏻

Shapes in the window sill. Bud vases in porcelain that, once fired, will be glazed in white and decorated in cobalt blue oxide designs of sorts. Wish me luck!

I picked up a few goodies from the glaze kiln today. Including some test tiles decorated with cobalt blue oxide. In a few of the pieces pink crystals formed. I'm assuming that is something to do with the oxide reacting to the white glaze underneath? Interesting effect. Also picked up a couple of coffee cups and coffee pots. The brown glaze turned out beautifully! It's a combination of Tea Dust and Tomato Soup glazes.

I have recently begun experimenting with cobalt blue oxide. I have a soft spot in my heart for blue and white china. So I thought I might try my hand at it. As you can see I need to work on my brush technique but these are just test tiles anyway. Interestingly, I got some pink, crystallization within the oxide. Perhaps it's a reaction to the white glaze I used? I don't know I have never done this before. Anyone out there have experience in working with cobalt blue oxide?

Yay! It came out as expected but I'm actually really thrilled with the exterior glaze. It's a beautiful chestnut brown with little variations that are quite appealing. Best of all it didn't warp!

My latest line of drinkware. (Espresso cups are next on the to-do list!) These are made with a high iron clay body which works great with this white glaze. I scrape off some of the raised areas revealing the dark clay beneath. I think it gives it a wonderfully rustic appeal. What do you think? If I get enough interest I will be adding these to my online shop. (which is being reworked at the moment). 😉
