Castle Menzies, the ancestral home of Clan Menzies, is thought to be one of the most haunted castles in Scotland, and it lies less than a mile across the valley from Dun Aluinn.

Here our guests can revel in one of our most popular Highland Experiences… A candle-lit tour of the castle, listening to a local storyteller uncover spooky tales that are definitely not for the easily scared.

This exclusive evening also includes dinner in the old kitchen beside its enormous stone fireplace.

The only question is, are you daring enough?

Our new Head Chef, Tasso, is already discovering the wild larder around Dun Aluinn.

The connection between his ingredients and the landscape is an important part of Tasso’s culinary identity, and his menus are inspired by what’s growing and being harvested, caught and foraged at the time.

From Friday October 23rd, Dun Aluinn will welcome dinner reservations every Thursday through Sunday evening. Email [email protected] or call 07949 862059 to reserve a table.

Set above the Tay Valley, Dun Aluinn and The Lodge are perfectly placed for slowing down and noticing each seasonal change.

Our top 3 locations to enjoy the autumn colours this October, within easy reach of Dun Aluinn

1. Loch Tummel

Loch Tummel is a must see during your stay, especially the famous Queens View.

You can stop at the Queen’s View Cafe & Visitor Centre and Visitor Centre, and the nearby Allean Forest has a walking trail leading to an ancient Pictish fort. A short drive from here will also take you to the spectacular Pass of Killiecrankie.

2. Glen Lyon

One of the longest, loneliest glens, the scenery goes from ancient woodland to sweeping hillsides. It’s worth ging all the way to the end, which is dominated by the Lubreoch Dam.

Don’t forget to visit on your way through!

3. Kenmore

This village on the shores of Loch Tay has stunning views down to Ben Lawers and beyond from its pebble beach.

Just down the road, the HotBox Sauna at Taymouth Marina is just one of the relaxing activities offered at the Wild Wellness spa.
