Many of you know our mini JayBee’s love performing. They’re currently rehearsing with officialaaods, an incredible local society, run by amazing volunteers who give so much time to putting on fantastic shows with our youngsters each year.

As a local business, we’re huge advocates of our little town and all the amazing opportunities it offers. We’re asked regularly to support local clubs, schools and societies and we’re always delighted to help where we can and give a little back to the community that has supported us for almost 50 years. We’re delighted to once again be sponsoring the AAODS Friday night show at the boroughtheatre and this year, it’s FROZEN! ❄️

Our latest window display is all about warmth, pattern and rich autumn colour. Think cosy plums, chocolate browns, soft greens and faded rose tones all layered together for that wonderfully collected, quintessentially British feel.

Inspired by the gardens at Highgrove and created in collaboration with Highgrove and The King’s Foundation it is full with traditional florals, embroideries, tapestries and classic toile reimagined to give the collection a heritage feel that still feels wonderfully fresh.

We particularly love seeing the ever-popular toile returning in these deeper plum, chocolate and woodland shades - proof that traditional design never really goes out of fashion, it simply gets reinvented.

You may recognise our deep-buttoned kidney sofa from last Christmas, which was dressed in a rich green velvet. It’s had a complete new-season makeover, upholstered in a pretty soft pink pattern and replacing the deep bullion fringe for a gorgeous classic kick-pleat skirt.
A lovely example of how a much-loved piece can be completely reinvented with a change of fabric.

Laden with beautiful embroideries, botanical prints, wallpapers, tactile fabrics and our Melin Tregwynt Welsh wool cushions, it’s a window full of colour, texture and cosy autumn inspiration. There are so many beautiful details that photographs simply don’t do justice.

Lovely to be asked to write a piece for The Focus all about autumn interiors and the trends we’re seeing this season.

Autumn is all about creating that feeling of warmth and comfort as we spend more times in our in our homes with the cooler days and longer evenings. Layering textures, mixing prints and adding cushions, throws and beautiful fabrics help make our homes feel that little bit cosier.

We’re also still seeing the trend towards richer, deeper colours. Greens are still holding strong in every shade from soft sage and earthy moss through to deep forest tones, but we’re now seeing plums, chocolate browns and oxblood reds coming through too. They’re a lovely way to introduce seasonal warmth without relying on the more traditional autumnal reds and oranges.

It definitely feels as though summer has slipped away and autumn has arrived! Before our window gets its seasonal makeover, we thought we’d share one last look at our wonderfully bright and cheerful summer display.

We loved filling the window with classic Morris designs given a fresh new lease of life. Much loved patterns reimagined in uplifting new colourways, alongside beautifully redesigned embroideries. Fresh greens, soft pinks, citrus yellows and pops of orange made this one a real celebration of colour, pattern and the garden.

Two blinds working beautifully together.

For this very wide window, we fitted a made-to-measure hand-drawn blackout pleated blind behind a bespoke thermal lined and interlined roman blind to maximise thermal efficiency. Keeping the pleated blind down during the day helps moderate the room temperature - reducing heat through the summer and helping to retain warmth during the winter.

The blackout properties also create a wonderfully dark room for a sound night’s sleep, while the oversized striped roman blind on the most sumptuous and tactile linen adds softness, texture and beautifully dresses the window.

Practical, stylish and designed for comfort all year round.

This armchair needed a little more than simply recovering. Once stripped, the back required a complete rebuild underneath, restoring its structure and support before the new upholstery could begin.

The textured woven fabric has a wonderful mix of soft, earthy tones running through it – subtle shades of rust, ochre, blue, green and natural all blending together. The different coloured yarns create depth and movement rather than a definite pattern, making it interesting without being overpowering. Woven fabrics are particularly effective on upholstery because the weave itself provides texture and visual character.

The finished result feels warm, contemporary and incredibly versatile while still allowing the character of the original chair to shine through.
A great example of why a well-made piece of furniture is so worth saving – rebuilt, reupholstered and ready for many more years of use.

Sometimes a window needs something truly bespoke. This wonderful oversized bay required many widths of fabric to create curtains with the right fullness and presence for such an impressive window.

We chose a double pinch-pleated heading which gives all that fabric structure and creates beautifully neat, uniform pleats. Importantly on a bay of this scale, it also helps the curtains stack back neatly and efficiently when open.

A bespoke bent pole, made specifically to follow the shape of the bay with a reverse bend at each end, creates additional space for the generous volume of fabric to stack off the window rather than across the glass. This maximises the natural light while still allowing the curtains to move seamlessly around the entire bay. This really is one of our “go to”hardware options we recommend as even substantial curtains like these glide effortlessly to open and close.

The subtle herringbone-style woven design in soft neutrals is lifted by fine lines of blue, teal, ochre and rust. There’s lots of texture and detail when you look closely but from a distance it remains wonderfully calm and understated – perfect when using such a large amount of fabric.

An impressive oversized window, a lot of fabric and plenty of careful planning…exactly where made-to-measure really comes into its own.
