✨Introduction to Colour Work Classes - FairIsle Style✨
Every Wednesday Evening
October 14th - 9th December
(excl. 11th Nov)
4pm - 6:30pm

Using Shetland Spindraft yarn to create a pair of cosy Fairisle Wrist-Warmers.

Covering all basic elements of working with colour from the beautiful "Knitting From The North" book by Hilary Grant.
A simple yet equally, enough of a challenge, knit has been chosen for you to work on. Which has enough of a pattern to challenge our creativity, you will want to design your next pair yourself! We will help with tips and techniques to learn this rewarding craft.

Come along to meet and connect with like-minded crafting folk in a relaxed warm environment equipped with everything you will need.🧡

Don't worry if you cannot commit to every class, or be there for 4pm each session, we will go over things more than once. We have allowed extended weeks for this class to allow people to drop in and out as suits! Plus there will always be help and advice via our colour work online chat.

We just wanted to take a moment to say thank you💫

Thank you to all who came along on Saturday and supported our fabulous meet the makers event. It was a beautiful day filled with so many crafting friends. It was so nice to catch up with everyone and see all the connections between fellow creative people.

And to our wonderful makers who took the time and effort to come along, showcase their work, tell all their stories and all the amazing inspirations behind the wonderful pieces, thank you! Thistle Crafts Artibee Plaid in Scotland

We hope we can bring many more of these days to bring together a community. Lots more events and workshops over the next few weeks, with some of the makers themselves, so keep an eye out! 🧡

A little bit about me if you don't know me or my textile history, cos it's been a while.😅

Name: Rhoda T Bain aka Artibee

I am crawling out from under my creative rock and returning to deliver a workshop with Flock and Saunter in wet felting. I have my City and Guilds 1 and 2 in Embroidery, which I really loved working towards in the mid 90's. Since then I have created pieces of textile art/clothing and taken part in NEOS a couple of times.
Plus, delivered many a class/workshop in a variety of mediums including traditional hand embroidery, contemporary mash-ups/collages in mixed media, silk painting and of course felt-making. It has been a few years,,,and I am really looking forward to sharing my love of nature and woolly things with you again, next month.

What's happening?

Wet felting workshop incorporating some needle felting and hand embroidery for detailing.
Please bring with you:
3 towels
A plastic bag or two for carrying wets home in
3 landscape photo ideas for inspiration for creating your work of art
a smile and sense of humour ;)

To celebrate one year, we are holding a Meet the Maker open day today! Completely free open day for all to come along and meet some of the faces behind our beautiful pieces in the shop. Learn their stories and their inspirations.

We have a full day of makers coming along. Including Anne from plaid_in_scotland, Gaynor from Thumbles Speyside, Rhoda Bain with felting, Bev from Thistle Crafts, and Julie with some spin samples.

🧶A day of getting together, learning, chatting, crafting, browsing, and connecting. We cannot wait - come along and support amazing creators.

No need to book just turn up when suits and enjoy!

Just a few doors up The Gather'n is open all day if you fancy a spot of breakfast/lunch too with some delicious fresh coffee☕️.
