Addlux® recently created a fully bespoke illuminated ceiling light box, designed to recreate the appearance of a bright blue sky and clouds indoors.

The large light box combined a custom powder-coated frame and high-resolution printed fabric graphic. Backlit using our Raylux LED edge lighting struips along with integrated dimming capabilities, it provided the customer with full control over the light output, allowing the finished installation to create the right level of brightness and atmosphere within the space.

The result is an immersive illuminated ceiling that transforms the space, creating the impression of looking upwards into a bright, open sky.

From specific dimensions and frame finishes to precise illumination and control, Addlux can engineer light boxes, light panels and bespoke lighting installations around the individual requirements of a project – whether a one off bespoke installation or multiple units of various different sizes.

Addlux® LED Light Panels are fully bespoke, made-to-measure architectural lighting systems that deliver bright, uniform illumination across ceilings, walls and feature installations.

Unlike standard off-the-shelf panels, Addlux Light Panels can be customised to suit specific requirements, from size, shape, depth, brightness, colour temperature, CRI level, specific diffuser, mounting configuration and lighting controls.

Designed for , , , and all our Light Panels can be produced for a one-off feature panel, an individual installation or large-scale illuminated walls and ceilings that incorporate multiple panels in various configurations.

When specifying the right lighting for backlighting, CRI is an key consideration when colour, texture and surface detail are all important.

The right is about more than simply making something bright. Brightness, colour temperature and CRI all influence how the finished installation looks and performs.

How bright does your lighting need to be? There’s no single brightness level that’s right for every project. The ideal light output depends on the application, material, installation depth and desired effect.

How much light do I need to backlight stone or onyx?
Thicker, darker or less translucent materials generally require greater light output to achieve bright, even illumination.

What about illuminated ceilings?
If the ceiling provides functional as well as decorative lighting, higher brightness levels may be required.

Is brighter always better?
No. The aim is to achieve the right visual effect without unnecessary energy use or compromising visual comfort.
