It’s that time again. Addressing the bucket of doom. This is months of clay reclaim from student pots, trimmings and throwing water, everything gets recycled and reused. Once mixed up to a nice creamy texture it goes into another bucket and the whole process starts again. Everyone reclaims clay differently and some don’t bother at all, how do you reclaim yours? Volume up for some lovely studio sounds. reclaiming clay

It’s that time of year again! Vouchers for pottery classes are available NOW on my online shop (link in bio). Private pottery classes at my quiet garden studio in Ammanford, South Wales. Perfect for individuals, couples or groups of up to 4. Come and learn how to throw pottery on the wheel, I’ll glaze whatever you make for you to keep!
These sold out last year and make a lovely gift! Looking forward to welcoming lots of new potters in 2026! Vouchers are valid for 1 year.

Todays thoughts 💭
1. Haste makes waste. Pottery teaches patience if nothing else, it’s not a process that can be rushed at any stage, whether that’s physically throwing on the wheel or the drying/glazing/firing parts of what are a long slow series of steps. If you rush it, you’ll have a bad time. Flops, explosions, glaze defects to name a few.
2. Centre yourself before the clay. Corny AF, but true. If you’re not in the right space or frame of mind, it’ll reflect in your work. You’ll lose more pots and the final result won’t be great. There have been many instances in the past where I’ve gone into the studio intending to make a batch or a commission and left frustrated, making nothing! This goes for short term, having to walk away and try again tomorrow, as well as long term, saying no to commissions and certain workloads or deadlines. Slow and steady is always best, that’s why I love this process. Big plans for 2026!

I’ll add the internal slip pattern once they’re leather-hard for the filter paper to sit nicely in for a good brew ☕️

Breakfast is better in a handmade bowl. Soft off-white glossy glaze with minimal blue accents on toasty buff clay. A nice pronounced foot ring on these so they’re super comfortable to hold. 9 of these left!
