Todays thoughts 💭
1. Haste makes waste. Pottery teaches patience if nothing else, it’s not a process that can be rushed at any stage, whether that’s physically throwing on the wheel or the drying/glazing/firing parts of what are a long slow series of steps. If you rush it, you’ll have a bad time. Flops, explosions, glaze defects to name a few.
2. Centre yourself before the clay. Corny AF, but true. If you’re not in the right space or frame of mind, it’ll reflect in your work. You’ll lose more pots and the final result won’t be great. There have been many instances in the past where I’ve gone into the studio intending to make a batch or a commission and left frustrated, making nothing! This goes for short term, having to walk away and try again tomorrow, as well as long term, saying no to commissions and certain workloads or deadlines. Slow and steady is always best, that’s why I love this process. Big plans for 2026!
