essary. Whatever suits the situation best! My personalised signs can be created using any type of wood or on slate, depending on your taste, & can vary from a small door number to a large business or farm sign. I can paint a variety of pictures to add a special touch & particularly enjoy painting animal portraits of any species.
I paint on good quality, locally sourced seasoned hardwood which comes in many different shapes, sizes & types such as Yew, Oak, Ash, Cedar, Mahogany, Sweet Chestnut, Walnut & Elm. Of course you are welcome to provide your own if you have a special piece you would like to use. If you have a certain design or look in mind then we can work with that, or I can create the design from start to finish & will involve you along the way to ensure you are happy with the end result. The characters & artwork are completely hand painted so a great deal of time, care & patience goes into the creation of each unique sign. The surface is fully prepared & treated beforehand, the after painting the sign is top coated several times with a high quality varnish to make it fully weatherproof.*
*Wooden signs will require some maintenance, depending on aspect, every 1 to 2 years, sand with 240 grit minimum sandpaper very lightly and apply 2 coats of a quality clear exterior varnish. I can do this if required, plus any touch ups that may be needed.
