Some memories rest gently.
Others press down without warning.
The way you used to circle before lying down.
The sound of your sigh when you finally settled.
The weight of you leaning into me—
trusting, certain, real.

I feel it most in quiet moments.
When nothing is demanding my attention
and memory steps forward on its own.
It doesn’t ask permission.
It just arrives.
Full.
Complete.
As if you never left.

People say memories are comforting.
And they are… sometimes.
But they’re also heavy because they’re honest.
They don’t soften the edges.
They remind me how deeply you were woven into my days.
How your presence wasn’t occasional—
it was constant.

Grief is not just missing you.
It’s adjusting to the weight of loving you
without the balance of your body here to anchor it.
The love is still the same size.
It just has nowhere to rest.

I imagine you now in a place where memory doesn’t ache.
Where remembering doesn’t pull at the heart.
Where love exists without gravity.
You carry nothing there.
No pain.
No effort.
Just peace.

Maybe that’s why I feel the weight so clearly—
because you laid it down
and I picked it up without realizing.
Not as a burden…
but as something sacred.
Something earned.

I won’t rush the heaviness away.
It’s proof.
Proof that you mattered.
That you were real.
That love lived here fully and deeply.

Memory has weight because love was strong.
And I will carry it—
carefully,
faithfully,
until the day I don’t have to anymore.

Today, we pause to honor the pets who now watch over us from above. Their love may be unseen, but it still finds us—especially on the days that feel the heaviest. We miss their playful ways, their gentle eyes, the small paws that once made life feel safe and whole.

They may have been called home too soon, but their memory remains our warmth.
In every quiet moment lives their loyalty, and in every tear, their love.
