The story behind Annie’s vintage Parrot obsession /hoard 🫶🦜

Annie has fond memories of a wooden painted parrot trend going around in the 80’s.
As a 15 year old she remembers buying some as they fitted in well with her bamboo themed bedroom plus they sat well amongst the plants she nurtured ( sounds more like a jungle than a bedroom I hear you say !😆)
… she also purchased these wooden painted parrots as presents for members of her family 💓🦜💓.

So how come the parrots have returned and moved into Tissington Craft Corner AND why so many ??

A few months ago Annie became aware of a family of vintage parrots hidden/squirrelled away in a warehouse : “how exciting “Annie thought and so she ran to to their rescue 🏃‍♀️ 🦜🏃‍♀️🦜🏃‍♀️…

Tissington Craft Corner has always been a refuge for the curious and rescued/repurposed. ….Now it’s home to a flock of fantastically flamboyant colourful vintage wooden parrots ; Painted and Perched poised for placement. Each parrot is a one-off — hand carved, painted and full of charm 💟

Whether you’re decorating a summer house, a book shelf or just want something with personality that doesn’t need a lot … just a flick of a duster ! — they’re cheap to keep 🤣

Pop by, adopt a parrot (or three), and give them a new perch. These wooden birds bring colour, kitsch, and fit happily….They’ve been waiting decades to look vaguely tropical on your mantlepiece or even in the garden !
