Based in South East England, Laughland Jones has established itself as a unique company with an excellent reputation. Creating bespoke interiors in properties across Britain and the Alpine regions of France and Switzerland. Re-branded from Design Forum Interiors, Laughland Jones has been offering a bespoke architectural interior design service to a discerning clientele since 1995. The company was founded with a commitment to delivering elegant, well balanced interior design for both private and commercial clients. Although our work is predominantly alpine and UK based, our designs are tailored to the clients needs, as such we have also done work further afield. One project in Canada has been voted the world’s best ski property for the last 3 years. Our team are passionate about crafting interiors which reflect the needs of the client, with impeccable attention to detail. As well as sourcing the very best furnishings from all over the world, we frequently design and commission bespoke pieces to perfectly fit the look and feel of each room.

You can already imagine a slow breakfast here. Or supper that carries on long after the view has disappeared into the evening.

These new dining room CGIs for our northern Italy project bring the scheme into sharper focus, with dark woods, leather and a layout that makes the most of the views.

We’re particularly excited to see how the room changes from morning to evening, the same materials taking on a different character as daylight gives way to lamplight.

Swipe to see the site as it is now, too. When you’ve spent so much time working through the plans and materials, you start to see the finished rooms within the building site. These images help us share that view with our clients.

From the enduring appeal of natural materials to the careful consideration of lighting, Andrew discusses the details that shape the homes we create today.

Coming home starts before you reach the living room.

You may remember the w**e wall and under-stairs w**e storage we shared from our project in, Switzerland. This time, we’re sharing the thinking behind the entrance hall and how we want it to feel when you walk through the door.

The triple-height space gives us room for a cascade of Bocci lights, drawing the eye upwards and bringing a warm glow through the hall. Below, a bespoke walnut bench creates somewhere comfortable to sit, take off your shoes and settle back into being home.

Olive green upholstery, soft woven stripes and pale stone bring warmth and texture to the space. The padded back and curved timber soften its architectural lines, while shoe storage beneath the seat keeps the everyday practicalities neatly tucked away.

We imagine arriving here after a day in the mountains: putting your bags down, easing off your boots and taking a moment before heading inside. That feeling of being welcomed home is as much a part of the design as the materials themselves.

Our love of the Alps runs in the family. ⛷️

Swipe to see Martine’s competitive skiing days and Andrew’s ski-bum era…

With another ski season approaching, our thoughts are turning to the mountains and the chalets we love working on. This winter, we have someone very special to cheer on, too.

Max Laughland, Andrew and Martine’s son, is preparing for a big season, working towards his first World Cup starts. We couldn’t be prouder, and Laughland Jones is delighted to sponsor him.

Andrew and Martine met on the slopes. Martine raced for England’s moguls team, and that’s her in the second slide. Then came winters taking their sons race training in Pila and Tignes, with Andrew increasingly struggling to keep up.

That love of mountain life is something we bring to our chalet projects, and something we share with so many of our clients. Our connection to the Alps goes well beyond our work.

Watching Max make his own way in the sport means an enormous amount. We’ve seen the years of training, the long stretches away from home and the hard work that goes into every season.

We’ll be rooting for him every step of the way.

Take a closer look.✨✨

You might notice the room first, but we can happily spend just as long talking about the fabrics, finishes and all the little decisions that bring it together.

The blue in a curtain trim picked up in a velvet cushion. Stripes and small patterns layered against timber. A place for the w**e and glasses that becomes part of the dining room itself.

Across these three homes, each combination brings something different to the room, and something of the people who live there.

We’ve recently heard from the owners of this chalet in Méribel village, who have asked us to help with a few updates. We first worked on their home around five years ago, so it’s lovely to be picking things up with them again.

It also seemed a good excuse to share a little more of the project.

Spread across several floors, the chalet brings together contemporary interior architecture, warm timber and bespoke furnishings, with antiques and original art adding character throughout.

Our clients had a real passion for interiors and we worked closely with them to curate the antiques and artwork. These pieces brought so much of their individual taste into the rooms, and we loved working with them to create a home where everything felt at ease together.

The open-plan top floor brings everyone together, with a bar and a private snug to retreat to. Elsewhere, there’s a cinema and a mini spa with a massage room and steam room, offering plenty of ways to spend the hours off the slopes.

A couple of years after completing the chalet, we were invited back to design and fit out the games room too. It’s a pleasure to see a home evolve over the years, and to be asked to play a part in it again.

So many of you were excited to see our new project in northern Italy, we wanted to share a closer look at somewhere designed for slowing down.

Imagine coming back from a day in the mountains and having this waiting for you.

These latest CGIs reveal more of the wellness and massage spaces, with a calming palette, layers of texture and lighting that creates water-like ripples across the floor. In the massage room, a backlit resin wall brings a gentle glow.

We’ve thought about how you’ll feel spending time here, from the textures around you to the light you see when you lie back. All those details work together to help you settle in and switch off.

For now, we’re enjoying seeing it take shape in these images. We can’t wait to see those ripples for real. 🤍🤍

There’s a lot more to this project than you might see at first glance.

We recently shared a first look at this home in the Swiss Alps, where our approach to chalet interior design takes its cue from the architecture. This time, we’re taking you a little further inside.

The split-level layout is part of what makes this home so interesting, with spaces tucked away and views opening up as you move between floors. One of our favourite details is the staircase, where three glass treads let you look down into the w**e store beneath your feet.

Alongside the smooth béton ciré walls, the timber brings warmth, with beautiful handmade joinery framing the w**e collection. There’s so much thought in how these elements come together, from the views through the glass to the lighting within the shelving.

It’s a lovely part of the house to spend time in, even if you only came down to choose a bottle. 🍾

🎨Let’s talk grout.✨

Bear with us, it deserves more attention than it usually gets.

You can spend weeks choosing a beautiful tile, then find that the colour between the tiles changes everything you liked about it. Suddenly you’re noticing a grid across the wall, or the outline of every petal, when it was the softness of the marble that first caught your eye.

Of course, sometimes that definition is exactly what you want. It depends on the tile, the room and how you want it all to feel.

We’ve digitally changed the grout colour in these photographs so you can see the difference. Have a swipe and notice what catches your eye in each version.👀

This is why we spend time on details that might seem small. We’re thinking about how each choice works with everything around it, so you can enjoy the finished room without wondering why something feels a little off.

And yes, it does mean we have quite lengthy conversations about grout.
