Transforming the look of the Aylesbury Canal Society headquarters! 🚤✨ We recently wrapped up an extensive exterior painting and staining project at this fantastic local hub. To ensure a flawless and long-lasting finish, our team started with meticulous preparation using our Mirka dust-free sanding system—keeping the site clean and the surfaces perfectly prepped. For the boarding, we applied Sikkens Light Oak high-build woodstain, bringing out the rich, natural beauty of the timber while providing heavy-duty protection against the elements. The best part? The entire project was completed right on time and strictly on budget, much to the absolute delight of our clients. Why business vetting matters. 🤝 In a marketplace flooded with unverified online reviews, true business accountability is more critical than ever. As members of Buy With Confidence Scheme since 2009. We are proud to echo the latest advice from Trading Standards regarding their Buy With Confidence (BWC) scheme. Unlike private review platforms, BWC is 100% owned, controlled, and operated by public sector local authorities. Achieving this status requires an intensive audit, staff criminal record checks, and continuous monitoring. Our business has successfully maintained this standard every single year since 2009. When selecting a partner or contractor for your next project, remember these critical consumer tips:
Verify the Vetting: Always confirm membership via the official Buy With Confidence Business Directory.
Demand Long-Term Accountability: Choose companies with a proven track record of volunteering for independent council monitoring.
Value Integrity Over Price: A cheap quote from an unvetted provider often brings severe financial and safety risks.
We M Simmonds Decorating Contractors Ltd are incredibly proud of our 17-year history with BWC, and we will continue to provide the honest, legal, and high-quality service our clients deserve.🔗 Read the full guidelines and browse approved members: Trading Standards Buy With Confidence Trading Standards Approved

Top Tips: Hire the Right Person for the Job!

Before you hire a trader or make a big purchase this week, here's your quick checklist to shop with confidence:

✅ Get multiple quotes – Don't settle for the first person you find, compare a few to make sure you're getting a fair price
✅ Get it in writing – Quotes, timescales, and payment terms should always be confirmed in writing, not just a handshake
✅ Never pay the full amount upfront – A reasonable deposit is normal, but be wary of anyone asking for full payment before work starts
✅ Check before you book – Always verify a trader is Buy With Confidence approved before agreeing to any work
✅ Trust your gut – If someone's pressuring you to decide on the spot, that's a red flag
