Wednesday Word of Kindness

Today I'm introducing a new series called "Never Be the Reason..."

The idea is simple, but it challenges us to think carefully about the impact our words and actions have on others.

Over the coming weeks, I'll be sharing reflections that encourage us to be mindful of how we treat people, whether at home, at work, at church, or in our communities.

This week's reflection:

Never be the reason someone is afraid to speak up for fear of being humiliated.

Perhaps it's a colleague in a meeting who has an idea but stays silent because they're worried about being laughed at or dismissed.

Perhaps it's a child in a classroom who knows the answer but fears getting it wrong.

Perhaps it's a friend who wants to share their thoughts but has learned that speaking up often leads to criticism rather than understanding.

Words have power. A cutting remark, a sarcastic response, or a public put-down can stay with someone far longer than we realise.

Instead, let's be people who listen respectfully, encourage gently, and create spaces where others feel safe to contribute.

"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing." — 1 Thessalonians 5:11
