I’m holding a whole week of conversations across Bangor, and I’d love you to join me.
Over the past two years since becoming your MP, I’ve been talking to residents and businesses across Bangor. I’ve heard all about the challenges and the problems, and lots of ideas about what needs to change.
There’s fantastic work already happening in the city - as we saw just the other weekend - Gwyl Haf Bangor Summer Festival , Bangor Ska & Soul and others are showing what can happen when we give people a reason to come into the city!
Alongside some brilliant people in Bangor, I’m already working on plans to help bring empty buildings back into use and attract investment, and I’m still fighting to get an indoor food and drink market off the ground.
So this week is the next step - building the evidence we need to make things happen. I'll use what you tell me to strengthen funding bids, go after public and private investment, and feed directly into the new regeneration body I’m working to get up and running this autumn.
What would bring you into Bangor more often? What should fill our empty buildings? What would you actually use and support? What events and activities would bring people into the city? And what would make the biggest difference now?
I’ll share the results with Cyngor Gwynedd's regeneration team and invite the Plaid Cymru Welsh Government’s new high streets taskforce to come and hear directly from residents in Bangor too. As I’ve said before, we already know the structural challenges facing Bangor – rates, footfall, parking and planning.
This week isn’t about going over problems we already know exist. It’s about turning ideas into action, building the case for investment, backing the things that are already working and getting on with making things happen.
It's urgent, because Wylfa on our doorstep is a huge opportunity. This project will create thousands of good jobs in our area, putting money in people's pockets - it's a massive opportunity to attract investment. But Bangor won't benefit if we don't go out and fight for it!

Dwi’n cynnal wythnos gyfan o sgyrsiau ar draws Bangor, a byswn i wrth fy modd pe ‘sa chi’n gallu ymuno â mi.
Dros y ddwy flynedd ddiwethaf ers dod yn AS yma, dwi ‘di bod yn siarad efo trigolion a busnesau ar draws Bangor. Dwi ‘di clywed popeth am yr heriau a’r problemau, a llawer o syniadau am yr hyn sydd angen newid.
Mae gwaith gwych eisoes yn digwydd yn y ddinas - fel y gwelon ni'r penwythnos o'r blaen - mae Gŵyl Haf Bangor, Bangor Ska & Soul ac eraill yn dangos beth sy’n gallu digwydd pan ‘da ni’n rhoi rheswm i bobl ddod i mewn i’r ddinas!
Ochr yn ochr ag unigolion gwych ym Mangor, dwi eisoes yn gweithio ar gynlluniau i helpu i ddod ag adeiladau gwag yn ôl i ddefnydd a denu buddsoddiad, ac dwi dal i frwydro i gael marchnad fwyd a diod dan do ar waith.
Felly, yr wythnos yma yw’r cam nesaf - adeiladu’r dystiolaeth sydd ei hangen arnon ni i wneud i bethau ddigwydd. Mi wna i ddefnyddio’r hyn ‘da chi’n ei ddweud wrtha i i gryfhau ceisiadau am gyllid, mynd ar ôl buddsoddiad cyhoeddus a phreifat, a bwydo’n uniongyrchol i mewn i’r corff adfywio newydd dwi’n gweithio i’w gael ar waith yr hydref yma.
Be fyddai’n gwneud i chi ddod i Fangor yn amlach? Be ddylai lenwi ein hadeiladau gwag? Be fyddech chi’n ei ddefnyddio a’i gefnogi mewn gwirionedd? Pa ddigwyddiadau a gweithgareddau fyddai’n dod â phobl i mewn i’r ddinas? A be fyddai’n gwneud y gwahaniaeth mwyaf rŵan?
Mi wna i rannu’r canlyniadau efo tîm adfywio Cyngor Gwynedd a gwahodd tasglu strydoedd mawr newydd Llywodraeth Cymru Plaid Cymru i ddod i glywed yn uniongyrchol gan drigolion Bangor hefyd. Fel dwi wedi’i ddweud o’r blaen, ‘da ni eisoes yn gwybod am yr heriau strwythurol sy’n wynebu Bangor - ardrethi, nifer yr ymwelwyr, parcio a chynllunio.
Dydy’r wythnos yma ddim am fynd dros broblemau ‘da ni eisoes yn gwybod eu bod nhw’n bodoli. Mae’n ymwneud â throi syniadau’n weithred drwy adeiladu’r achos dros fuddsoddi, cefnogi’r pethau sydd eisoes yn gweithio a bwrw ymlaen â gwneud i bethau ddigwydd.
Mae hyn yn fater brys, achos mae Wylfa ar stepan ein drws yn gyfle enfawr. Bydd y prosiect yma’n creu miloedd o swyddi da yn ein hardal, gan roi a***n ym mhocedi pobl - mae’n gyfle anferth i ddenu buddsoddiad. Ond fydd Bangor ddim yn elwa os nad ydyn ni’n mynd allan ac yn brwydro amdano!
Felly dewch draw i ddweud eich dweud. Mi fydda i mewn lleoliadau ar draws Bangor drwy gydol yr wythnos. Does dim angen archebu lle - dewch draw, nôl paned a chael sgwrs.
