Bespoke Services Cupboard | Designed, Engineered & Crafted
This project is a perfect example of where good joinery starts long before anything is cut.
What looks like a clean, minimal services cupboard was actually a tight technical challenge:
• Services hard against the right-hand wall — no space for a side panel
• No clearance above for lift-up hinges
• Fuse board access regulations ruling out a central divider
• A request for the cabinet to be as shallow and slimline as possible
• And a clear brief: luxury, discreet, and functional
With conventional hinging completely ruled out, the solution had to be designed, not forced.
❇️ The Solution
A bespoke push-fit door system:
• One-piece CNC-machined premium MR MDF stepped shaker doors
• Precision-located push connectors to position the doors perfectly
• Discreet magnetic catches to prevent twist or movement
• Full, unrestricted access to all services
• No visible hardware, no compromises
❇️ Design Refinement
I also reworked the existing pipe boxing to align seamlessly with the cabinet, and deliberately stepped the unit away from the wall corner rather than running it flush — a detail I often recommend. New installations meeting old fabric are rarely perfectly level or true, and this subtle step avoids visual tension while elevating the finish.
❇️ The Result
A calm, considered piece that:
✔ Feels intentional
✔ Works effortlessly
✔ Respects access requirements
✔ And delivers a luxury, architectural finish
This is the kind of problem-solving that doesn’t shout — but it does last.
