I wanted a little flower arrangement this morning and realised the garden is full of hellebores right now… so I ended up cutting a few and reminding myself of a few tricks that really help them last in a vase.

I usually pick the more mature flowers — the ones that have already lost the stamens in the middle — they hold much better indoors.

Then I slit the stems and put them in tepid water (not cold).

They’re such a good in-between flower this time of year, when winter is nearly over but there still isn’t much else to cut in case you are over daffodils already!

It’s my birthday today.
Which feels like a good excuse to say hello properly.
I’m Lorena — founder and creative director of Roomytown.
And yes… 50 today, which feels as surreal as empowering.

I was born in Argentina, built my creative career in New York and San Francisco, and now (somehow) live in a 1700s house in Bath, England, surrounded by rolling hills and antique books.

Roomytown started with a few art prints and a lot of curiosity.
Today it’s trays, playing cards, puzzles and partnerships with shops I once wandered around in awe.

These days I split my time between digging through centuries-old illustrations, traveling for trade shows and building our business with a brilliant, small-but-mighty team who turn big ideas into real products.

There’s something about holding the season in your hands.
After months of sourcing, restoring, designing … it finally feels real.
This one has shells. a herbarium from the 1700’s.
And some very good gold pens.

and held together by a very good team and a lot of care.

So seeing you step inside, linger, chat, smile, come back— it really does mean everything.

We’re so grateful to everyone who’s stopped by today, and thrilled by the love for the new Spring collection.
It’s always a small leap of faith sending new work out into the world — and today felt like a warm landing.
