Bridgerton’s Bon Ton depiction of the City of Bath.
We Proudly supplied genuine Georgian Antiques to Netflix’s Blockbusting, Bodice Ripping, Bon Ton, Extravaganza, much of which was shot 31 paces from my Gallery here in the Georgian City of Bath.
Here is one of the rare items Georgian items acquired by Bridgerton’s Amazing Production Team, who became regular visitors to the Gallery during shooting of series 1.
Shown here is a Georgian Artist’s Reducing Glass, not a “Quizzer” or a mere Magnifying Glass.
The entwined Snakes hold a far more Seductive Secret.......
The Caduceus of Hermes is the Clue, dear Reader..........(To homage Julie Andrews' magnificent voice portrayal of the Series’ mysterious narrator - Lady Whistledown).

SEVEN POINT PLANIFESTO FOR

Hello,

On this 24.7 date where our world is perhaps thankfully far short of its old 24/7 hurly-burly, here is a first draft of a Planifesto for

But before then, please do join us for BoulesAid on Thursday at 7.30pm. It’s a comedy/charity/music online fundraiser for local Bath charities. We have one dozen great comics – including the biggest local name – in a joyous celebration of Bath.

You can join for free or make a donation – as you fancy. And help us spread the word on Twitter, Insta, Facebook and LinkedIn. Merci!

Planifesto

✓ Buy local. Indies add hugely to the social and living culture of our city. They’re more distinctive. They attract people to the city. And they pay their taxes here. Support them: you don’t know what you’ve got ‘til it’s gone.

✓ Invite friends here. When allowed, ask your friends to come here. Weekending friends, often Londoners, add hugely to Bath. Currently they may not want or be able to go abroad for holidays. Others won’t be coming near-term for culture or sport. OK: come here! You’ll know people who’ll enjoy this city.

✓ Find good things to praise. Yes, these are tough times. Yes, the city is a bit quiet. Both true of everywhere; no value in saying it. Instead, share the good stuff (by all means via ). Seek out the good that people and organisations are doing. Celebrate success, however modest. Pass on new offerings, places to go. We might as well enjoy what we can.

✓ Get active. Active personally, round the city and beyond; being visible, busying up Bath. Active professionally: buying from local businesses, paying bills, keeping money flowing through the city. Active culturally: inventive online offerings bound as physical culture looms in the autumn…

✓ Step up civically. And many have. The need for civic leadership will be yet greater this autumn. It cannot just be assumptively defaulted to councils: larger companies and organisations, people of influence need to play their part as never before. In whose interest is the continued growth of this city..? The bigger the organisations the greater the opportunity – and responsibility.

✓ Support local charities. The need for them has never been greater; their teams never more over-stretched; their funding never been more precarious.

✓ Let the Great Pause also be the Great Accelerator. These times have given us all pause, of course. They’ve also brought forward existing trends – working from home most notably. But also: the trust in local and regional brands vs national. Greater sense of purpose in all we do. Better fitness; more environmental awareness; the value of family and friendships. Accelerate those.

Meantime please join us at our next Bath Life Business Club: Social responsibility of businesses this Monday July 27 at 10am. It's free to register, please sign up here. And check out our archive of useful thinking here.

Better times are coming. And we cannot wait to publish Bath Life again: first issue back is out on August 28.

Keep the faith:

Annie, Jane, Greg and the Bath Life team

– always...

Friday is face - masks day. We shall not be setting Phasers to Stun.... Where's the ideal Trekkie Gif with Patrick Stewart??? Just be sure, we are all smiling behind the masks. Below, is an extremely fine and rare example of an 18th Century Japanese Samurai Face - Mask, from the Kaga Clan which we recently sold. It's called a Hanpo (Half Mask). As you can see, it does not provide adequate protection for our current issues.... Stay Safe Everyone!!!
