Interiorsat58

Interiorsat58 Working in this inspirational environment every day I developed a strong sense of taste and style and soon found a gift for bringing this to life in the home.

We are an Interior Design Studio working on projects across all budgets; with clients looking for full service support for a build or renovation, through to those looking for a just handful of hours to specify a new kitchen or even find the perfect sofa. I have spent many years working within the UK’s leading style magazines such as Vogue, Tatler, Harpers Bazaar and House and Garden and had access

to the most exciting and prestigious brands in the world. At House and Garden I developed my interest in creating luxurious, elegant and original interiors but without the often astronomical budgets involved. This is an ethos I bring to every project. I can advise you where to invest and where to save for maximum impact. Using my knowledge of products and network of suppliers I will bring you items you will love at the best possible prices.

Paint colours can look completely different depending on the room they are used in — and natural light is often the reason why.

In south-facing spaces, sunlight can intensify warm undertones throughout the day, making creams, taupes and warmer neutrals appear much richer than expected. Cooler tones can help balance this warmth, but in very bright rooms they can sometimes feel flatter or slightly washed out instead.

This is why testing colours properly in the room itself is so important. A shade that works beautifully in one part of the home may behave completely differently elsewhere.

It is also worth remembering that natural light changes constantly throughout the day. Morning light, afternoon brightness and evening shadows all affect how a room feels, which is why the most successful colour palettes are usually the ones that feel balanced in every light — not just at one perfect moment.

It’s always good to keep on top of what’s hot and what’s not. We love a lot of these on trend designs, and while we never choose a trend for the sake of it, when it works for you and your home, embrace what you love.

In naturally bright rooms, materials and finishes play a huge role in how comfortable a space feels.

Glossy surfaces can sometimes intensify glare and make a room feel harsher, particularly in conservatories or heavily glazed spaces. Softer textures and matt finishes help diffuse light more gently and create a calmer atmosphere.

Timber, linen, woven textures and natural materials often work particularly well because they add warmth and depth without making a room feel heavy.

When designing bright spaces, it is not always about adding more colour or more light - sometimes it is the texture within a room that makes the biggest difference.

Rooms that connect to the garden often feel at their best when the transition between inside and outside feels natural rather than forced.

This is less about themed styling and more about continuity through colour, texture and layout. Natural materials, soft tones and thoughtful furniture placement can help a space feel calmer, more cohesive and easier to move through.

When bright spaces feel properly connected to the rest of the home, they quickly become some of the most enjoyable rooms to spend time in.

Naturally bright rooms still need layered lighting.

A conservatory or glazed extension that feels beautiful during the day can quickly feel stark once the sun goes down. Table lamps, wall lights and softer pools of light help create warmth and atmosphere in the evening while making larger spaces feel more comfortable and inviting.

As you can see in our client project here, carefully chosen artwork can elevate interiors to a new level. We installed the Montis piece from Larkbury London. The tones and colours complement the colour scheme, and adding a metallic frame ties in with the cupboard handles and other metal elements. The small details really do make a big difference.

Bright, light-filled rooms can look beautiful — but they can also be some of the hardest spaces to get right.

Conservatories, glazed extensions and south-facing rooms often bring challenges that people do not expect. During the day they can feel overly bright, too warm or slightly washed out, while in the evening they can suddenly feel flat and lacking in atmosphere.

Good interior design is about balance.

Glossy surfaces can intensify glare, colours can behave differently throughout the day, and large open spaces can sometimes feel stark rather than calm. This is where texture, layered lighting and thoughtful material choices become so important.

Soft furnishings with texture, matt finishes, timber tones and carefully placed lighting all help create spaces that feel comfortable to live in from morning through to evening.

The best bright rooms are not simply full of light — they feel balanced, welcoming and easy to spend time in.

Bold colour often gets mistaken for being too much.

But in reality, it’s rarely the colour itself — it’s how it’s used.

One strong, well-placed colour choice will always feel more balanced than several competing elements.

When everything has a purpose, bold colour feels intentional rather than overpowering.

Some of the most impactful interiors come from confident colour decisions.

Whether it’s a bold kitchen, striking joinery, or a carefully considered statement feature, these choices bring depth and personality to a space.

When colour is used with intention, it doesn’t overwhelm — it defines.

Here are a few examples from our own projects where bold colour has been used with confidence and intention.

Thinking about using bold colour?

One of the biggest surprises with colour is how much it changes throughout the day.

A shade that feels soft in the morning can look deeper and more intense by evening — sometimes even like a completely different colour.

That’s why it’s so important to test colours in your own space, in your own light.
Natural light, artificial lighting, and even the direction your room faces will all influence the final result.

It’s not just about choosing a colour you love — it’s about choosing one that works in your home.
