No job to big...

Not every project at Splintered Finger is a big refurbishment or repairs on an antique piece, sometimes the tasks are small, yrt just as important.

The client had a couple of original handles off a dresser that needed some attention, so I got to work on them...

Happy customer :)

Time to blend.

First I applied t base coats to darken the mahogany patches. Then I gave it a very light sand. And now I’m applying stain in patches to match the existing flow of the grain and original colouring. Once that’s dry I’ll coat it again all over and light sand micro areas to match.

Then it’ll be time to apply the finish and send it home.

Complete refurbishment and colour change

19/10/2026

Morning all, hope you had a great weekend?

Here's another completed project head back to it's home this morning, the Light Table.

The client requested the colour be changed from its original medium oak colour to a lighter tone so it would match better in their home. Not a problem.

We took it apart and sanded it all back to the oiginal lumber which was naturally a lot lighter and was perfect for the client. It then goes through the sanding process to repair any damage and smooth it all out. Then its time for the finish, 3 coats of gloss polyurathane all over with 6 coats on the table top itself for added protection and longevity.

Please feel free to get in contact to chat about any projects you may have.

Thanks and have a great day.
