Hillhead Crafts deliver bespoke craft classes and workshops such as scrapbooking, card making, candlemaking and creative embroidery.

Hillhead Crafts has been in operation since 2011 and is run by Lorna and Michael Watson, who live in the rural area of Ballystockart, near Dundonald, Belfast. The company sell craft making kits and supplies, and deliver a number of bespoke craft classes and workshops, which aim to help build confidence and the skills of the participants. They cover a range of craft topics including:

Currently the workshops take place in either their bespoke home studio on the outskirts of Belfast, or in venues across Northern Ireland to suit different groups. Hillhead Crafts caters for various church and community groups, day care centres, groups of friends, hen parties and children's parties. I have started preparation of samples for an upcoming workshop on a Christmas tablescape. Love these mixed media projects where we combine lots of crafts. Tree option 1 now complete. Working with a wood slice base, participants will build their own tablescape by making trees, painting wooden trees, adding decorated wooden houses, decoupaged candle, creating a bouquet of seasonal foliage in a glass container and more..... to create a unique piece. Sharing a quick and easy project - taking pre-printed birthday greeting cards and elevating them by adding handmade embellishments such as die-cuts, metal brads, decoupage, stickers, ribbons, gems etc. Great way to use up supplies to make cards more interesting and special. Same technique can also be applied to Christmas cards or by using the fronts of used cards - more of that in another post. I recently mentioned the Japanese art form kinusaiga in a previous post and while I am waiting for materials to arrive and see what's possible to achieve in a workshop, I have come across kimekomi, essentially the same technique but worked on a dimensional piece. I have used it to create these statement baubles and I am pleased with the outcome. It is possibly easier as a starting project than kinusaiga as there is no pattern to follow and it can be completed within a 2 hour workshop. A little retail therapy today supporting local businesses. Here are some of my autumn finds - punch needle kit, autumn variegated wool, wooden blocks, dried flowers, mini pumpkins, autumn bowl filler, watercolour art, napkins and autumn fabric. Hopefully, I can make time to get these projects underway.

The notebook workshop this week inspired me to get out the notebooks that I had previously received with promotional branding and give them an upcycle. we are always trying to make sustainable crafts which are good for the environment and prevent things going into landfill. These are how they turned out with limited time spent on them and they would make nice little stocking fillers.
