Hillhead Crafts Hillhead Crafts deliver bespoke craft classes and workshops such as scrapbooking, card making, candlemaking and creative embroidery.

Hillhead Crafts has been in operation since 2011 and is run by Lorna and Michael Watson, who live in the rural area of Ballystockart, near Dundonald, Belfast. The company sell craft making kits and supplies, and deliver a number of bespoke craft classes and workshops, which aim to help build confidence and the skills of the participants. They cover a range of craft topics including:

• Scrapbook Classes or Memory Book Making
• Card Making & Papercrafting
• Altered Frame or Mirror
• Brooches
• Felt Making
• Gift Boxes
• Creative Embroidery
• Wedding Stationery
• Candle Making
• Soap Making & Bath Bomb Making

Currently the workshops take place in either their bespoke home studio on the outskirts of Belfast, or in venues across Northern Ireland to suit different groups. Hillhead Crafts caters for various church and community groups, day care centres, groups of friends, hen parties and children's parties. Last night there was a festive sound to the air at Hillhead Crafts with our choir of angels made from old paperback books. Three versions were available to try. This was a great eco friendly recycling project with angels made to both hang on the tree or act as a statement piece within a Christmas display. Another few options available at the workshop on 6 November 2026 at 7pm. The mittens hold a gift card and then can be used as a tree decoration for years to come. Completed using running stitch and so suitable for beginners. These would make great stocking fillers or to sell at a craft fair. I am also making a limited number of these available as kits for craft groups to complete with all the die cut elements and embellishments provided so no difficult cutting out using patterns. They have the added advantage that they can be completed within a 2 hour session. Contact me through the website if you are interested.

Some of the soaps made by the young adults at Sona recently. They had a choice of an opaque or transparent soap base. Those with the opaque soap base could add dried lavender whilst those with the transparent base could add a little piece of loofah to provide some gentle exfoliation. The coloured soaps are some that I recently made as little gifts. They have lemon essential oil added and so smell divine.

Busy day at Aghalee Village Hall yesterday for the destash event where I picked up a FEW bargains! I can't wait to give the wooden printing blocks a go on some linen fabric or a tote bag and I have already tried out the metallic candle transfers on a pillar candle and was pretty impressed with the result. As for the other bargains - I will share with you when I get a chance to use them in some upcoming projects.

A little bit of an experimentation day at Hillhead Crafts making a water candle in a glass. Autumn inclusions added to the bottom before adding water and wax. Not perfect and the presentation would be improved by a floating candle and so project 2 was to make a floating candle using a patisserie tin. This turned out well but would obviously need a l***r glass. Also made some floral candles and a few wax melts to use up the wax. I have done some further research on the water candle as I wasn't sure how easy this would be to transport home for participants and I am now clearly of the view that a floating candle would be a much safer option. These water candles are really for decorative purposes only.
