Although I class myself as an emerging artist, I’ve actually been creating art since I could pick up a pencil! I didn’t pursue art as a career, as like many people, I was told ‘you need a proper job’. So I spent a few years working in admin, had children, went back into education and did a degree and a Masters’ degree (still not in art!) and got involved in the world of fundraising and business de
velopment. My world has been slowly evolving and I have become more and more connected to the spiritual side of life. I remember one summer evening walking my dog over the fields and I saw three hares run across my path. I then looked up into the sky and saw a cloud, shaped like a hare overhead. Researching the significance of this put me on a path to becoming more connected to our natural world and Mother Earth. Art and creativity helped me connect to my soul’s voice and has supported and intertwined with my life’s journey, supporting me through loss, divorce and times of great change. I’ve experimented with many painting mediums and materials in many different styles, but it wasn’t until I started working with glass, that I finally found an authentic expression of my artistic voice. Colour and light have a profound effect on me and the work I was doing with glass soon started to cross over into my paintings. Using water-soluble felt pens, fine liners and markers, I create work that I believe comes straight from source – the times I’ve been working and it’s like someone or something has taken over my hand and is doing the work for me! I firmly believe that we are all creative beings, and that creativity is a channel for us all to connect to the infinite healing of the divine.
