Did You Know...? 🤔🏭

Our beloved Derwentside Shopping Mill (also known as Unity Mill) once had a towering brick-built chimney standing proudly alongside it! 🧱

For decades it watched over the local area, puffing away and becoming a familiar landmark — until it was finally taken down in the late 1970s. 👋

But not all of it disappeared...

We’re lucky enough to still have the original brass plaque from the chimney, along with part of the copper lightning conductor that was attached to it! ⚡🏭

And that's just one chapter of the mill's fascinating story. As you wander around the mill, keep an eye out for the information boards dotted throughout the building.
They're packed with interesting facts, local history, and a few surprises from the mill's past. 📜

Who knows? You might come in for a bargain and leave as a local history expert! 😄

So next time you're visiting, take a moment to explore the stories hidden within these old walls.

History, shopping, treasures, and a few tales to tell... what's not to love? ❤️
