Antiques at The Holt Antiques@TheHolt is a twice-yearly Antiques & Collectables fair staged at the Holt Hotel near Oxford Something for everyone!

Today we have updated the Home Page on our website for the last time. In the next few days the domain name will lapse, and the site will disappear. Our old email addresses will also cease to work.

It's a sad day, but despite our best efforts, we have not been able to find another suitable venue for an antiques fair in this region. Certainly was always going to have to go, but we had hopes for as a replacement, and that possibility isn't quite dead ... yet.

Thank you to everyone who supported us along the way - all ten years! It was fun while it lasted! Please continue to follow us here, and when we have better news, we will let you know.

PETER FORBES – 1941-2025

It is some time since we last posted here on Facebook - the fair seems a part of distant history now - but one of the most enduring memories we have is of welcoming Peter Forbes to every single fair we ever organised. He was one of our most stalwart supporters.

It is with heavy hearts that we relay the news, much belated, that Pete the Brass passed away a few weeks ago. We first met Peter at the monthly Woodstock Antiques Fair, back in 2012, but he became a regular face, and friend, at many of the fairs we attended over the next ten years or so, including Cirencester, Oxford Market, Benson and, of course, Antiques@TheHolt.

Peter was kind and generous, and always enthusiastic. Our thoughts and best wishes rest with him and his family. We have been contacted by STV Studios who are seeking participants for a new Channel 5 show called The Great Auction Showdown to be presented by Paul Martin.

They are looking for participants in Oxfordshire and neighbouring counties who have antiques or collectables that they'd like to have valued, and perhaps taken to auction. There they will be sold by celebrity auctioneers, who will 'compete' to raise the most money for their clients.

Filming will begin in Oxfordshire next month - venue and exact date to be confirmed. The show is open to professional dealers as well as members of the public. If you'd like to take part, or want more information, email [email protected] or call or text on 07717 694989.

There are pangs of regret this weekend, knowing that we ought to have been at The Holt welcoming hundreds of visitors through the doors. Under the circumstances, we're almost relieved it hasn't happened, but sorry that we shall never celebrate our tenth anniversary .

We amended all the listings we had access to, and updated the website, as well as this page, but we have no control over long-standing publications, like the Black & White guide. Our apologies then to anyone who travelled to the hotel, only to find the fair wasn't happening. We share their disappointment.

Thanks once again to all those who supported us over the years. It was fun.

It is with enormous regret that we announce the cancellation of our next fair, originally scheduled for March. For various practical and logistical reasons, The Holt can no longer accommodate an event of the size that Antiques@TheHolt has become. We are actively seeking another suitable venue, and hope to re-launch Antiques@ ... sometime in the near future.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us so generously since we launched Antiques@TheHolt in 2013. It is such a disappointment to see this cherished and much respected antiques fair come to an end, but it has been an enjoyable journey. We have made many friends, and created an event that is widely respected in the trade and by collectors alike. That is in no small measure due to the past management of the hotel, who were forward-thinking and supportive, as well as the many dealers who came back to stand with us, time and again.

We hope to have more news soon ...

Mark Ashley, auctioneer with Bigwood's of Stratford, was a visitor to The Holt today, with some members of the Bargain Hunt Fan group. He viewed most of the stalls, and seemed impressed by the quality and variety of stock on display.
