Hi all!

Apologies for being a little MIA, the social media department has let ya guys down apologies!

We are currently in our quilting class as we speak blethering to the sound of sewing machines, and wanted to highlight a little event us Biggar Quilters have been invited to!

Its the End of course Exhibition by C&G Textile Students of Gillian Cooper studio! Details are below, but if you can go along and support fellow quilters please do!

Happy Sunny 🌞 Saturday quilting friends!

Hope you all are enjoying what looks to be a lovely weekend ahead!

We were pleased to be able to host a talk from Jennie Rayment during the week, and what a real treat we had!

Amazing to bring together so many lovely ladies even from outside our Biggar Quilters group and Jennie have us in stitches (pardon the pun 😉🪡) as she shared some BLOOMING good stories 🇬🇧 (if you know you know!)

Thanks again to Jennie for coming along, and to Amanda Serrels Bryan and the Biggar Quilters committee who arranged all for us! And to all the home bakers for sharing some goodies!

Happy tuesday everyone!

Our lovely Lynda Wallis FINALLY - this has been a true labor of love project- completed her log cabin quilt!!!

Took her a long * wont say how long... * time to get this stunning quilt finished but boy it was worth it!!

Then she passed it over to our lovely Longarm By Hazel Hazel who quilted it for her!

Im always sure we can use some brightness in our life, and anyone who knows Lynda would agree that is her, and the quilt really represents that ❤️ well done!!!

Our lovely Agnes Barr aka the tea gaffer (we'd be lost without her wise quilting advice and skills and most definitely her tea ☕️🫖 has been working away on this beautiful quilt!

The blues really pop on the white and I'm super proud of her (not just saying this to encourage her to donate it to myself...!! 👀)

And finally it was machine quilted from our very own talented Longarm By Hazel Hazel, who as always spends time discussing what she would recommend for quilting pattern and for thread colour!

We hope you had a lovely festive season, and wish you all the best for 2026!

Our lovely ladies met for the first time this year on Thursday and loved having the gang back together!

As christmas is now over, we can now share this beautiful quilt that our lovely Mary made as a gift!

We 'herd' that it was well received! The amazing piece work is very effective and will do well to keep the recipient warm this January! ❄️🐮

Happy Friday folks!

Last night was our last "quilting night" of the year, I mean of course we will have our wee christmas party night as we do every year, but last night was the last night of the year!

We had the company of Ben from Clydesdale Food Bank who kindly came along again this year to explain the work they are doing in the community, and his passion to make sure everyone has a lovely Christmas.

Our Biggar Quilters have been busy over the year making handmade quilts to donate to clydesdale food bank in hopes that these quilts made with love and kindness will help some families keep warm this winter.

These quilts are made purely from donated fabrics from our members and friends of members, and then made into quilts all out of kindness. Our quilting ladies continue to inspire me personally and an inspiration to the community!

We blinked and now its November!

The Biggar Quilters have been decompressing since the fantastic quilt show we put on in September which showcased the very best of our quilts... and it was all for a great cause!

The total amount raised was £6275.60 🤯 for both of our chosen local charities. This was so much more than any of us could ever have hoped we would achieve and cannot be more thankful to ALL OF YOU!! who came along and supported.

Yesterday, after waiting on our cheques arriving, we were finally able to give that money over to our 2 chosen charities, split evenly of Life Well Lived, Biggar and Biggar Local Committee for Cancer Research UK . Some of our magnificent ladies went along to the Gillespie Centre to not only donate our cheques but were invited to stay for a blether and a sing song!

I would be amiss if I missed this oppertunity again to thank all of our ladies, as they all contributed to the exhibition, for all of our kind donations of raffle prizes, for our lucky dip donations, donations for tombola, the stands that the quilts were displayed on were all handmade by Charlie and team, and just for every single thing that went into the exhibition. I don't think I could ever say thank you enough.

Our ladies are winding down now for the festive season, but we are still quilting away, doing what we love to do which is stitch, blether and eat cake.

Annnd thats a wrap on the Biggar Quilters 10 year exhibition!! 🎬

I can't even begin to express how proud I personally am of these ladies, what an utterly amazing achievement to manage, plan, organise, choose the quilts, BUILD the stands 🤯 (kudos to Charlie and team for this) collect raffle prizes and donations, spread the word, bake bake and bake some more... all for an amazing cause!

We will continue to post some pieces from the show over the next few days with updates of total amount raise - the current rough amount is more than any of us could have dreamed of!!

We are a bunch of ladies who just love to sew... and piece every stitch with love, patience, kindness and a lot of fun... those core values is what made our exhibition exactly that ❤️✨️

Day 2 is officially open! Things are well underway for day 2 of our exhibition (the social media queen of the group is currently in greece, and her post did not save at 6am this morning!)

You can find the ladies at the municipal hall today from
10am till 3pm. Lots of goodies to be won, lovely items for sale and of course the homebaking!! Oh... and our beautiful quilts!
