SashikoFest Scotland is tomorrow!

Although we can't be there, we wish visitors, traders, demonstrators and tutors a fantastic day full of sunshine and sashiko!

I am extremely thankful to the other traders and helpers who will be setting up a small Japan Crafts stall on my behalf, I hope you enjoy the selection of goodies that I sent up for the event. Please support all the traders if you can, because without them there would be no SashikoFest.

Have you ever tried stitching WARIGIKU? The traditional 'split chrysanthemum' sashiko pattern symbolises protection and longevity, and can be found on zabuton cushions and furoshiki cloths. A long tail is left on each thread in the corner, then plaited and tied.

This piece is the 'Auspicious Japanese Motifs' large sashiko panel which you can find on the New Arrivals page.

My finger movements are improving each day and I am managing to stitch very slowly. I think this is good for my rehabilitation, as well as keeping me in one place! Have you used sashiko as therapy? I would love to hear your experiences 🌸

✨️ OPINIONS PLEASE ✨️

Pots, cats and parasols...I've been sent some gorgeous fabric samples but can only choose one colour of each as I can't fit much more in the studio!

These are all linen-feel cottons. Which would you choose (or is it a no for you?)

I stitched the sashiko on all 6 Otsuchi bag kits before I broke my wrist and was so sad not to be able to sew them up. Then my wonderful friend Fiona stepped in and offered to make them all up for me!💛💖💛

She did an amazing job, and Man took some great shots in the garden this morning. Scroll to the end to see a couple of other sweet friends who came to help 🐱🐦

I've now had surgery, but unfortunately have had to cancel my places at both the Malvern Grosvenor Shows and SashikoFest Scotland due to follow-up appointments.

I was looking forward to launching the bag kits in person at these events, so hopefully seeing a few more pictures will help you decide to buy online instead! Lots more pictures on the website 🌸

Things went from bad to worse today as Man gashed her thumb open on a Stanley knife whilst cutting charm pack labels!!!

Cue our 2nd visit to A&E in 12 hours!🙈

Patched up, we worked until late in the studio and managed to get all the Bank Holiday orders packed, it was a real team effort (at least it wasn't her dominant hand, unlike mine).

It's going to be a hard slog preparing for next month's Malvern Grosvenor Shows
and but we will get there 💪💪💪
