A little hello from behind the projects 👋

I founded KVIST because I’ve always been interested in the space where architecture and interiors meet — not just how a room looks, but how it works, how it feels to move through, and how all those decisions eventually come together on site.

More than a decade on, that’s still the part I love most. Working with brilliant clients, consultants, craftspeople and contractors to solve the complicated bits, obsess over the details and create spaces that genuinely work for the people using them.

There’s quite a lot that happens behind the finished photographs!

For this guest bathroom refresh, we wanted to create something calm and luxurious, but still very practical.

A generous walk-in shower sits behind the vanity, while we kept the bath for guests who prefer a proper soak. Soft neutral finishes keep the room light and restful, with warm layered lighting and porcelain pendants at the vanity adding a little more character.

The illuminated niches were designed into the walls to provide practical storage without adding clutter — one of those details that works best when it’s considered from the outset.

Luxury doesn’t always need to come from adding more to a room. Sometimes the building itself can become the artwork.

Layered bronze wall panels like these, combined with carefully integrated lighting, bring depth, texture and changing reflections throughout the day — perfect for a room that needs a real sense of occasion.

The key is thinking about these elements early. Wall build-ups, recesses, junctions, lighting and power all need to be considered at concept stage, often well before the walls themselves are built.

It’s this integration of architecture, interiors and lighting that makes a statement feature feel like part of the room, rather than something added afterwards.

Children’s rooms have to leave space for the children themselves — and that usually means accepting that brightly coloured toys, plastic and a few very definite opinions are going to become part of the scheme!

Here, the patterned wallpaper and soft green joinery create a considered backdrop, but there’s plenty of room for the pink princess tent, toys, artwork and all the other colourful things that come with childhood.

A children’s room can still feel cohesive without styling the childhood out of it.

Door handles are one of those details you interact with every single day, so they should feel as good as they look.

We always specify handles with a satisfying weight, a smooth locking mechanism and a finish that coordinates properly with the latches, hinges, door stops and other ironmongery throughout the scheme.

It’s a relatively small detail, but one that can make a surprising difference to how considered and high-quality an interior feels.

Think of door ironmongery as the jewellery for a little black dress — it’s worth getting right.

Children’s bedrooms need to work quite hard — somewhere to sleep, play, imagine and grow, without needing to be completely redesigned every few years.

For this little room we kept the backdrop timeless, adding warmth and personality through patterned curtains, favourite toys and playful details. The antique chest brings another layer of character (and plenty of practical storage), while sitting happily alongside pieces designed for much smaller hands.

Cosy and age-appropriate, but with enough longevity to grow up with them.

We love helping clients fine tune the potential in the spaces they already have.

Our client loved the light and proportions of her home office, but she always felt it was cold – both physically and visually. Rather than redecorating the room, we focused on the smaller changes that make a big difference: a natural weave rug for warm toes, soft cushions to balance the angles of her couch, sheer curtains to filter the light and frame the view, and open shelving with organisers to keep the clutter at bay.

Sometimes it's not about starting again. It's about knowing which details to tweak.

A little throwback to Christine and Matt's wedding at the beautiful Angvik Gamle Handelssted in Norway 10 years ago. They're still featured on the venue's website all these years later!

Happy anniversary to our Creative Director and her husband. Here's to the next chapter together. 🥂

Sometimes the smallest decisions are the hardest.

As part of this Room Guide, we explored a number of wallpaper options for the bathroom, helping our client visualise each scheme before making a final decision. We also recommended the right type of wallcovering for a high-humidity environment, so it looks beautiful and performs for years to come.

Our Room Guides give clients the confidence to take their project forward themselves, with a clear design direction and all the practical advice they need.

Which option do you prefer?

From render to reality.

We use photorealistic renders throughout our design process to test ideas, refine the details and make sure everyone shares the same vision before final procurement. It's how we sense check every decision before it's built.

Seeing the finished space come together is always rewarding.

Congratulations to the team at Qube Studios on everything they've achieved. We loved supporting them through the early growth of the brand, from their flagship Acton studio to Canary Wharf and Hackney Wick, helping shape spaces that reflected their ambition as the business evolved.

It's been fantastic to watch Qube go from strength to strength, and we're delighted to see the business continuing to expand with major new investment and new studios across London.

Keep flying. 🚀
