Last night, thanks to support from Torfaen County Borough Council, we were able to host a fantastic workshop where local people had the opportunity to work alongside artist Danielle Farrington and quite literally leave their mark on our new mural.
As part of The Light We Carry mural trail across Torfaen and Blaenau Gwent, funded through the Towns Together programme and The Deal, people of all ages were able to learn the basics of graffiti art. Participants created their own funky lettering using graffiti pens and name cards, practised on mock walls, and then got the chance to contribute directly to the mural itself.
This opportunity was only possible thanks to the funding secured for the project and the incredible coordination of Torfaen's Community Resilience Officer, Amy Evans.
A huge thank you to Amy, Blaenavon Ward Councillors Nick Horler and Janet Jones, and the many community groups who helped make the evening such a success, including Friends of the Green, The Tuesday Club, Blaenavon History Group, The Hwb, and HIT Education.
Seeing so many people come together, learn something new, and become part of this artwork's story was genuinely special. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the mural a true community creation. 🌿
