I am extremely impressed at the choice of music today from the algorithm. It completely sums up how I am feeling this weekend. So glad to see the torrents of rain, the cool air, the grass starting to go green again, the sound of water running in the stream. Taking a little time out after a gruelling summer, drinking up the view from the window and feeling grateful.
As many of you know, I have been on the hunt for just the right curtains for my bedroom in the little cottage for a long time. With a pretty well non existent budget, expensive taste and needing two pairs, it has been a frustrating challenge. A very dear friend gifted me one pair. But then, with me on my very best behaviour at Shepton, and not even allowing myself to look around and browse, what did I spy opposite me? Struggling to get a decent photograph as my room is always "atmostpheric", but sooo happy to have found the perfect cottage curtains at last. Sometimes you just have to be patient.

If Carlsberg made log bins. I have been obsessed with these antique wash coppers for years, being very jealous years ago when Ben Phillips had a whole collection of them at the wonderful .
I nearly didn't ask the price on this as I am trying not to buy currently (still clearing) but couldn't resist. Not only is it a perfect size for logs, it also has handles. A rare and perfect find.
Coming to Ludgate House Antiques next month.

I am so proud of this hooligan. With the child away for the week, the forecast was checked and it seemed just about doable for him and me to do Shepton today. Given the fact he has NO recall still, we did the early start rather than overnighting and I managed to keep him as cool as I could in the back of the van with me.
You all flocked to the fair today and I sold soooo many of the clothes that my bedroom is now fully reclaimed and I met some wonderful people. I think that the beauty of the fairs is that we all share the same ethos, we love history, items meant to last, beautiful items that enrich our lives.
Thanks to all that stopped by, chatted and purchased and biggest thanks to my little collie who coped incredibly well considering. He got to enjoy a nice cooked bone in the garden as his treat. We are both now happily pooped.

I knew it was going to be a good one when I found a hedgehog in the garden at 3am this morning 😁🦔.

This is the kind of stock my followers are more used to. Rusty salvage but with potential. Have you seen these made into table lamps? They are spectacular.

On the van for Shepton flea.

Living where I do now, I have the great good fortune of living near to Karen of Karen B . This means that when she has flowers available to purchase, or, even more crucially, when she has been baking cakes, I am on my way eagerly.
I often feel that I want to share the gorgeous blooms but am so self conscious at my flower arranging and photography. However this week I have had to put on my big girl pants a few times (there is now a 5 minute video of me showing pruning cuts for apple trees....arggh) so here are my flowers, my Friday treat to myself. Another week survived as a gardener in 2026. Full credit to Karen for all of her hard work in what has been the toughest of years for pretty well anyone who works outdoors (except maybe watersports instructors ⛵️).

I have suddenly noticed a little flurry of followers and would like to say a big thank you to Elle of Elle Kemp @ Ridge & Furrow (one of my most inspiring accounts) for crediting me again for finding "that curtain". It struck me that all of my favourite finds have been green, my favourite colour green, my favourite place the (usually green) woodlands, the home that my friend recently sold and that I am still missing and it's green paintwork and wild garden. Even my calling, my passion for environmental work and conservation which pulls me back more every day. It seems that my favourite purchases and your favourite images....all green.
I think there may be a lesson in this. More 💚 pls..
