🎄 The dreaded C word is creeping up…! 🎄

With just over 10 working weeks until Christmas, things are already getting rather busy in My workroom and My diary is filling up fast! ✂️💜

As I’m sure you can appreciate, I’m a sole trader, and I take a huge amount of pride in every job I do. There’s also a lot that goes on behind the scenes — consultations, measuring, working out quotes and prices, ordering fabrics and supplies, making everything Myself and arranging fitting🪡🧵

So if you’re hoping to have new curtains or blinds finished in time for Christmas, please get in touch sooner rather than later.

I’m currently hoping to accommodate pre-Christmas orders booked in before the end of October, but availability is becoming limited and I can’t guarantee Christmas completion — particularly as the diary fills up.

I’d much rather be upfront than rush my work or promise something I can’t comfortably deliver. 💜

And if you’re already waiting for a quote or reply from me, please bear with me — I haven’t forgotten you! I’m just one woman, one sewing machine and unfortunately still only 24 hours in a day! 😂🧵🪡

So… I’ve decided I need a hobby! 😂

And what better hobby for a seamstress who’s been sewing pretty much her whole life than… MORE SEWING! 🤣🧵

I’ve dabbled in quilting in the past, but if I’m honest, I’ve never really stuck at it… so this time I’m determined! 💪😂

I kept seeing posts from Mrs Quilty popping up, and then I spotted 14 FREE downloadable Halloween patterns… well, that was me well and truly hooked! 🎃👻🖤

So here it is… my next little venture into quilting and I’m ridiculously excited to get started! 😍

It’s absolutely beautiful and, knowing my slight obsession with all things Halloween, I think I may have finally found the project that keeps me at it! 😂🎃

Because apparently spending all week surrounded by fabric wasn’t quite enough for me… 🤦‍♀️🤣

Wish me luck — I have a feeling this could become another obsession! 💜🧵🎃

(Although I do have to say I was slightly miffed there was no sight of any Halloween fabrics 🎃 in my 1st 📦 guess a trip to Hobbycraft is on cards !! 🤣 )

🎃💜 HELLO OCTOBER! 💜🎃

My absolute favourite month of the year has finally arrived… although I’m sure that comes as absolutely no surprise to anyone who knows me! 😂👻

Give me crisp autumn days, darker evenings, pumpkins, Halloween and an excuse to add even more purple to my life and I’m very happy! 🎃🍂

Behind the scenes at Melanie Jayne Soft Furnishings, October also means we’re well and truly heading into the busiest time of the year. The workroom is getting busier, the sewing machine is earning its keep and there are lots of lovely curtains & blinds taking shape ready to make homes feel that little bit cosier for autumn. 🧵✂️🪡

And of course, dare I say it… Christmas is creeping ever closer! 😱🎄

So here’s to my favourite month — lots of sewing, lots of cosy interiors, probably far too many pumpkins and absolutely no shortage of purple! 🎃

Fitted 2 pairs of gorgeous Pure Edit Uma Teal curtains today to replace 2 pairs I made 6 years ago we didn't want to take down & replace the origional tracks & pelmets I made as the front one was so large so the brief was to find something that matched beautifully & i think I nailed it they looked beautiful & Helen was very Happy 😊

Well… that’s a wrap! ☀️⛱️

Holiday officially over and I’m back feeling super chilled, refreshed and ready for the pre-Christmas madness to begin! 😅✂️🪡

I’ve had the loveliest couple of weeks… visited some fabulous beaches (and even managed to find a few gorgeous secluded ones I’d never discovered before! 🏖️), eaten some seriously delicious seafood 😋🦐,
Caught up with my little brother and his wife, stayed with a friend and of course had LOTS of cuddles with Dora & Gracie 🐾💜 — along with plenty of walks to work off all that food! 😂

It’s been just what I needed, but now it’s back to reality… the workroom, the fabric, the sewing machine and what is usually the busiest few months of the year for me!

Batteries recharged ✔️
Holiday memories made ✔️
Ready for silly season ✔️

Right then… kettle on ☕, let’s see what’s waiting for me! 😂💜

✨ Last fitting job before we head off for a little break! ✨

Today we installed these beautiful blinds in a gorgeous bay window, using an original 1960s fabric called "glowing morn" by Janet White that My lovely client managed to source to match curtains her mum had made many years ago. Sadly, the original curtains had been lost over time, making this fabric even more special and sentimental.

Unfortunately there wasn’t quite enough fabric available to pattern-match all three blinds, but I think you’ll agree they still look absolutely stunning. 💙

Projects like this are always a pleasure to work on. Bringing cherished memories back to life through beautiful fabrics and craftsmanship makes what I do so rewarding 🪡🧵
