I’m burnt out, and I’m sorry.
Working at the shop 6 days a week with not really any pay is exhausting. Running a business is hard work these days and running a physical shop is even harder. When it’s quiet out, I worry about paying the rent; then when it’s busy I don’t get a chance to breathe and know I need a staff member. Then I spiral because if I’m not making enough to pay myself, I can’t afford to pay anyone else. This doesn’t include having to place orders, keep track of stock, process deliveries, do post runs for the Etsy, schedule social media, do finances and more.
The shop is doing really well and I am super appreciative of all my customers – whether that’s 20p or £83.62. I am hoping that by the end of the year I will be able to pay myself some semblance of an actual wage, but until then I am going to be making some changes.
Some of you already know Ocean who has been covering me on and off recently and some of you have met Tayla who has been training with me on Thursdays. I am hoping that Tayla can become a permanent member of staff on Thursdays and I can take a day off.
You already know I will no longer be making my skulls, buttons or keyrings, which I think will help alleviate some pressure.
There may be some other updates over the course of the month.
This month is the shop’s 2 year anniversary so this isn’t really the news I wanted to share to celebrate but I will reiterate that I AM NOT CLOSING – and I don’t think I ever will haha I love what I do, I just need a little breather.
