The Kraft Kabin Skye Everything handmade. Mixed media jewellery, knitted, handwoven & crocheted shawls, scarves, hats, mitts. Skye gifts and souvenirs

The Kraft Kabin was developed after several hobbies took over my life and house! We built the cabin in late 2014 where it now serves as my hobby haven, workshop and shop. It works perfectly alongside our B&B and self-catering businesses, where our guests enjoy coming in for a chat and a browse and a chance to buy a locally crafted gift.

Where's Nick Knowles when you need him? 🤣 First phase of the Kabin renovations complete, two sides re-clad after serious weather damage. Cladding done by me, with a tiny bit of help from hubby and a last minute sos brought Chainsaw dave in to help cos my arms weren't long enough to fit the top pieces🤣. Note: No windows! We decided to do without as they gave more problems with leakage. Pesky Skye weather won't beat us tho! Now on to phase 2 - painting before the weather gets colder! On a plus note, last B & B's today so a wee bit more time to get on with the chores 🤪

So, I bought some new ankle wellies for dog walking in the winter. They fit perfectly so no need for thick socks and are comfy apart from being a bit ridgid around the cuff so while I was away I knitted myself a pair of boot cuffs, job done!! They are now comfy, cosy and no rubbing round the ankles. Wearing them with leggings it just looks like your wearing thick socks. Is this something that people would buy?? What do you think?

That's us back from our wee holiday over in Crathie, Deeside. What a fabulous week we had, great weather, beautiful scenery, amazing food, lots to do and peace and quiet. Our cottage was perfect for Derek with it being fully accessible and equipment available if we needed it. I discovered that the Deeside Knitwits were doing their yearly trail of knits around Braemar. We didn't realise at the time but we came across this one at the entrance to Braes O'Mar courtyard, love his fig leaf 🤣 Shop will be open again from Thursday, normal opening hours. Our Knit and Natter group will resume for the Winter months from next Wednesday 21st at 1.30pm. Now it's back to Halloween decorations and dare I say it Christmas stock!! Holiday over!! 😁

Made last night, here's a herd of cows that will be making their way to the Made on Skye shop in the next few days along with a few other items. I had a complete blank on what the collective term was for a group of cows so I googled it. This is what came up. I've never heard of any of these others have you? I guess technically this is a drove but they'll be going in the car 🤣

Other Terms:
Drove: Used when cows are driven or moving together along a road or path.
Mob: Often used in Australia and New Zealand for a smaller group of cattle.
Kine: An old-fashioned or poetic term for a group of cows.
Flink: A rare traditional term specifically for 12 or more cows.

Oh my goodness it's been over a month since I posted! Apologies for that, I'm still here, just busy busy with B & B's and working on a few orders and stock for the shop. Some of you may remember, especially the Beginners Crochet class ladies, that I'd started a project of my own about 2 years ago, a tunisian granny square top. I intended to have it finished for my holiday that year, needless to say that didn't happen, it wasn't even finished for the holiday a year later!! I'm pleased to say that it's now finished and ready for my holiday this year!! 🤣🤣 and here it is. I'm sooo happy with it, what do you think? Worth all the blood, sweat and tears? 🤣

Closing just now for the rest of the day as it's hubby's birthday and I'm taking him out for an afternoon treat. I hope everyone is enjoying a bit of sun like we finally are today!! Open as normal tomorrow x

Just a quick note to apologise for being unexpectedly closed this week. Hubby was taken through to Raigmore hospital on Saturday night. He's fine and got back out yesterday but it's been a bit of a stressful week so we're having a few days of R & R and will be open again on Monday. Thank you ❤️
