Reloved Upholstery and Design

Reloved Upholstery and Design Repaired, Re-upholstered and Reloved Reloved Upholstery exists today because of love.

For years I have loved chairs, not purely on an aesthetic level but also for their silent, dependable functionality. I started Reloved Upholstery because of this love of chairs, fabric and interiors. The history of the chairs is part of the excitement of restoring and upholstering them ready to be reloved in a new home. When I strip-back a newly discovered piece, the chair reveals its history this

is always a great thrill for me. The signatures of master framebuilders, long lost curios such as dusty old sixpences or even hand-scrawled notes stuffed into the depths of the chair hint at where the piece has come from and I find this endlessly fascinating. I specialise in sourcing beautiful mid-century chairs from the likes of G-Plan, Greaves & Thomas and Parker Knoll, all of which are known for the their timeless design, quality of workmanship and robustness. A carefully curated library of fabrics from traditional to modern is available to my clients to choose the perfect finish for their design classic. Working with high quality materials like Harris Tweed means your soon-to-be-reloved chair will not only look beautiful but that it will last for years to come. My workshop is located in the inspiring surroundings of the Art Work project on the border of Salford and Manchester. Feel free to drop in and take the weight off your feet if you're in the area.

Every chair is tailored like a bespoke garment.

From pattern matching and seam placement to shaping the fabric over every curve, every decision is made to achieve the perfect fit, proportion and silhouette—while creating a restoration that’s built for longevity and durability.

Because the perfect fit changes everything.

Happy Sunday vintage chair lovers, I hope you enjoy this! From the Studio to In Situ: The Homecoming of Eve’s Chair 💙

This beautiful G-Plan 6250, often described as “the most comfortable chair in the world,” belonged to my client’s mum, Eve Hamlet, a furniture designer at HJ Berry & Sons in Lancashire.

Restored in the wonderfully bold Blotch fabric by Timorous Beasties, it has now returned home and taken pride of place amongst David Hockney artwork and opposite a classic sofa once owned by Eve herself.

One of the highlights of delivering the chair was hearing family stories and being shown photographs of my client’s son sitting in this very chair as a child. Along with memories of him and his sister racing around the room, it was a wonderful reminder that furniture isn’t just furniture — it’s a keeper of family history, memories and moments.

Thank you, Joy, for trusting me with such a special piece.

More photographs and the full story coming soon to the Reloved website. 💙
