THE EYE OF AFRICA
The Richat Structure, also known as "The Eye of the Sahara", is a geological feature located on the Ardrar Plateau in Mauretania.
Initially believed to be an impact crater, there was no evidence of shock metamorphism or other deformation through hypervelocity impact.
The ring structure formed over a body of magma and the slopes appeared due to differential erosion of hard and soft rock.
